Hopefully Dale Bennett will be in League Two next season. Don't particularly want to see a Welsh club or the BNP of football winning the Conference playoffs.
Amazing the amount of players that come right through the academy and make a few appearances then it seems it's decided this bloke won't cut it so off you go. The money and time invested in these young footballers that comes to nothing is astounding and i don't think they really get a proper chance. I know they get a bit of action on loan to see how good they are but... And in recent years we have been one of the better clubs to bring through home grown talent! This will obviously decline slightly under GZ and the Pozzo's, but thats down to expectations and the desire for success - quickly.
I'm not so sure that that is so obvious really. There are still 'name players' in the Academy and IIRC the presence of GZ has attracted some young 'starlets' - can't remember any names though as they don't get much of a mention, even on the Official Site. Whilst we have been one of the better clubs recently at bringing through home grown talent, it could be argued that finances have dictated that as a necessity - and quite a few of those whose star shone early have, for various reasons, seen the light fade. Maybe they just weren't as good as we all thought?
Of course we still have players coming through, they have only owned the club since the summer. So the players who are prospects now will probably still get their chance. But if we are going to get promotion and stay in the Premiership, if/when we get there then they will need to spend or bring in more players to make a more immediate impact. Thus leaving it less likely for young blood to have their chance.
I understand that, but my point was that since the takeover & installation of GZ as manager, his presence has attracted youngsters who may not have otherwise come here - so I'm questioning the contention that our Academy will decline. Whether or not we will ever unearth a Nathaniel Chalobah of our own is anyone's guess, but I'm of the mind that the standard already has improved, and will continue to do so as long as we have a GZ type at the helm. As to whether we have to spend if/when we get to the Premiership rather than rely on youngsters - I'd say that is a given. I don't know of any EPL club that actually relies upon grooming their youngsters.
Therefore my point is valid. As for youngsters he has attracted, i haven't heard of any, but i suppose it is a given that any high profile manager would.
I think we will still have a number of youngsters coming through the Academy... they will just have more foreign-sounding names! Even if we are in the Prem, and stay there, I believe we will remain above the average of players coming through from the Academy! I firmly believe our Academy is what helped attract the Pozzos to Watford - they can 'flood' our Academy with promising youngsters from all around the world, where they will learn together, not only football, but within the school environment
Which point - that the academy will decline slightly? .... to learn to speak English - hopefully so that we can understand them on Twitter.
Chris Pope leaves after just 3 months... http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp..._s_staff_leaves_after_less_than_three_months/
Hogg and Fitz Hall are both fit again. http://www.watfordfc.com/news/artic...=Feed: WatfordFC (Watford FC ... Latest News) Should we bring them back into the team or stay with the same side? I can see an argument for playing 'one size' if Doris is playing.
I think a defence of Doyley, Nos, Hall would be able to cope with Henderson. Maybe even put him on his fat arse a few times. I have nothing against Ekstrand, but I think he might be a slightly weaker link, if there is one, against the thug.
with Hogg more defensive than Battocchio i'd also probably play Hogg...they're big and they're rough at NFFC lol...i'm very nervous!
Robbie Savage just said our 4th last week was the best goal he's seen in the championship! BTW Deeney is due on Talksport soon.
The hearing is today. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/10189479.Football_League_misconduct_hearing_begins_today/
