Feels a bit late to be posting articles but what do we do with him next season. IMO he's been fantastic this season when he came in doing everything we could have asked of him. However pretty much everyone agrees that a new striker is our first priority for the summer. Do we keep him as our second choice, drop him down even further by buying 2 strikers, sell him, or let him play a serious role in next season
As much as I like the guy, and he's scored some important goals, I just don't think he can cut the mustard in the PL.
I reckon back up, or if we play 2 strikers then him and a new striker up front. I seriously think he's good enough to be a decent Premiership player, as long as he plays like he did before he got injured!
the guy needs the chance, people may say he cant it in the prem, the guys played 9 games. scoring 6 goals, fair enough yes 3 were in one game but shola has 6 in 19 games. he needs time, he needs chances, but i dont think he will next season, me personally i would start him ahead of shola and lovenkrands, that also depends on what striker comes in, he would be best used with a (crouch) tall type striker, use his pace etc... a few players will come in a striker is needed a striker who will get you 20+ goals a season (best given the chance could be that striker) funny thing is carroll could of been that striker then we went and sold him
You kidding? Look at all the goals he scored in his appearances. You can just tell by watching him play that he has some decent ability and he's a good finisher. He was a flop when he first started, but he asked for his chance and made the most out of it. He also puts in consistent effort, and that alone will turn into goals. He's a good backup striker. I'd put him well above Lovenkrands and Ameobi for when we do get new strikers.
Point taken. I'm more than happy to look a twat if he goes and bags a load of goals next season. And I'm with you on picking him ahead of Lovenkrands and Ameobi. I'm not suggesting he's a bad player or anything and I can't doubt his effort, but I'm not sure he's going to get into our first team next season if we go and buy another two strikers. He might be happy on the bench, but then again he might not.
Oh no. He definitely won't be our first choice. He has enough to cut it in the premiership though, and that will make him a good back-up striker to have. I long for the day when we have a back-up striker which isn't ****.
I say buy the best 2 strikers we can possibly get. Let Best force his way into the line up again if he's capable of doing so then great if not then 3rd choice.
