Listening to SB's post match comments about DJ it's fairly evident to me that he can't tempt him to come north. So who next? Random speculation or logical suggestions welcome, mention of Billy Sharp allowed!! I'd go for: Nahki Wells on a permanent. Gedo on loan. What say you?
Maybe Disc Jockey believes he can blackmail Palace into giving him a ludicrous Fraizer Campbell- type salary with the newly acquired Selhurst millions?
I fear nobody will be the answer! Leaving us with a recalled McLean! How's Fryatt's injury progressing? Any chance of him Playing this season?
Elmo, Elmo and Elmo. Without him the issue is we have no balance and we have no outlet on the right, which isn't Rosie's fault. The problem is we should of known this may happen and have a back up. Prossy had one decent ball in today and did well from it. Would of loved DJ, not sure who i would look at myself now. Maybe worth a risk on someone like Jake Cassidy, but its a huge, huge risk.
Reports on 5 live today that Palace were in for Blackman from the Blunts. If that is true don't know where that leaves us with DJ and in fact Blackman is someone I wouldn't mind us signing, or even Ebanks-Blake for that matter. We have one of the best squads we've had for a while, it's a shame to see it going to waste at present through a lack of a cutting edge in front of goal.
Elmo Elmo Elmo, Maybe a striker if they are available, if not get McLean recalled. With Elmo's delivery I believe Proschwitz will score more
Elmo and on loan striker I'd like to see this -------------------------Stockdale ------------Chester--------Faye-----------Hobbs Elmo-----------------------------------------------------Brady ----------------------------Meyler--------------------------- ----------------Aluko--------------------Quinn-------------- ---------------(?)------------------Proschwitz-------------------
Possibly another name worth looking at is Jose Baxter, admittedly he can play a little deeper and he has just signed a new deal, but he is very, very talented. Jake Cassidy and Blackman are another two names. None of them would be ultra expensive (below 1M), and wages would be tiny, so compared to others they won't be expensive. I would rather us take a risk, than not take a risk and not sign anyone.
If we don't sign a striker, we have zero chance of going up, without Aluko we don't look dangerous at all and he's out for half of our remaining games. Personally, I think we need two, one with a track record and a punt on Gedo, we have absolutely no plan b. Obviously, we also need Elmo to return, but I expect he will.
All true, but we also don't look dangerous at all when Aluko is in the team. I know I keep saying this but he's contributed nothing since mid November, we won all 4 games when he got injured the last time and it's all gone downhill since we started messing about with the team trying to fit him in again when he came back.
We needed a striker when Aluko was available, we need one even more now he isn't. We got good results while he was out in December, but we were lucky, we weren't convincing in several of those games and a few of them could have gone either way. We're trying to get promoted to the Premier League and we don't have a single quality striker at the club, at least none that are available. That's ridiculous.
@ ellewoods, unfortunately footballers look down their noses at us northern folk. I might be wrong but the delay in sealing a deal for DJ just confirms to me he doesn't want to come to Hull. I'd rather we didn't try to incentivise him with cash. I think a young player would come to us, but an established player will look at us as last resort
Of course players want to play for us. They'd run out for an Algerian Desert X1 if the money was right. Its down to money pure and simply. And if that's the only thing motivating these players then questions should be asked of their commitment. Our owners have some huge decisions to make this week and the crowds we are currently attracting and the adverse criticism that appears to be mounting might just sway which way those decisions go. And any long standing fan of Hull City AFC will tell you that we have seen it all before. I just hope this isn't history repeating itself.
