Probably because he thought they didn't deserve to be included in that nightmare performance. Zamora will be exempt and needed some minutes on the pitch and was possibly our best player, we actually looked like creating chances when he came on.
He gave the crowd of players that got us into todays mess the opportunity to get out of it and they failed miserably.
I agree with Ferdinand and Park but which goal was Green's fault and I thought first half granero was on a different level to the others? If we're naming names no mention of Faurlin or Fabio both awful today !? On a POSITIVE note i thought Ben Taim is a good plan B centre half and somewhere inside Traore there is a great player, more so going forward than defending but he ghosts past players.
I do agree that the players are more talented than we've had in my memory DT but the problem is that they're not playing to their best (which is meant to be Redknapp's strength). I do agree that we could integrate one or two into the first team and they could do a job - the continuity of the core players is our main asset but I don't think we can rely on turning the confidence of the whole group round quickly. It's a big gamble putting our survival hopes on the form of those who've not been able to rediscover it for several months. It does make it important to add a couple of faces that will raise the team a bit and instill more belief but not more than 3 more signings IMO. For example, the addition of Remy has not made Taarabt a better player but it has already made him a bigger threat just in terms of laying on gilt edged chances for a very direct player (where there weren't necessarily those runs being made before). I still have every confidence that we'll be fine but I think we need some help in lifting the lads. Bit gutted today that's all but I'll be in positive mode again before the City game where I know there'll be a fighting performance irrespective of the result.
Hello Yorkshire. It was me who made that pack mentality post. I'm not going to hide. I didn't go to to the game because I still play football on a Saturday but am willing to believe he was rubbish today. How many goals were directly his fault? Don't gets wrong I don't rate him but don't think he is as terminally bad as some suggest. I wasn't there so I will bow to popular opinion.
I've commented on here countless times that in my opinion Ferdinand is a Championship defender at best. Hughes should have identified the weak areas in the summer, instead he signed more midfield players than you can shake a stick at and strikers that have season tickets for the treatment bench! Unfortunately, we are now reaping the rewards of a totally incompetent manager and naive chairman. No disrespect to TF, top bloke but sadly ill advised by those around him who should know better.
Disagree, Harry's told it how it is. If these fragile primadonnas can't handle the truth then perhaps they should seek alternative employment!
So under Hughes we had players exiled from the squad, and divisions between the 'triers' and the freeloaders (still there according to Derry the other day). Now the manager, however justified on today's performance (have not seen any of it), essentially saying half the squad, most of whom will still be there come Friday, aren't up to it. Harold may be a master psychologist, but this is a bit beyond me. Lets hope, somehow, it works. As I've said before, the players should be held responsible for their own performance, but the manager is accountable for the organization and motivation of the team. He left this to Jordan and Bond this week while he understandably travelled around Europe. The result shows why these guys aren't managers in their own right. Anyway the last nightmare show against Liverpool was followed by the result against Chelsea. All is far from lost.
And Harry gave the players a few home truths after that debacle, let's hope we get a similar response on Tuesday...
What else could he say? It was as abject a performance as any of the abject performances we've seen under MH. I'm just thankful we weren't playing Luton today, that would have been a bigger humiliation than Vauxhall Motors...
How did DJ do? As odd as it sounds as we're after signing him I'm hoping he was one of the **** ones today. Steve Bruce after the game today said he wasn't optimistic about getting a striker in before the deadline on Thursday and that DJ was reluctant to move. If he's one of the players that would help us, unless of course Remy's injury is more serious so we're not expecting you to let DJ go until he's back. (As thanks to an international break we can make emergency loan signings til the end of the season from 11th February it wouldn't be disastrous)
