Villa get knocked out of the FA Cup by Miwwaw... and are merely one point above the Prem Drop Zone.

Fans are screaming and owners upset....

.....bet he wishes he'd never left Carrow Road!

Chase big money & pay the consequences if you fail. He is playing a lot of young lads though because they won't let him spend.

He is trying but I just don't see how he can keep his job. Dead man walking.

I think he is just implementing Lerner's plans. Lerner can't afford to compete against the big guns in the Premier League so they are trying to stay in the league without much spending. Getting rid of Lambert wont change anything.

They spent over £20 million in the summer. They were something like fifth highest spenders in the league I think.

That blows my theory out of the water!

How about this then?: They have sold some good players:

    Barry £12m
    Milner £26m
    Young £17m
    Downing £20m
    Total £75m

and spent £20m on very average players except maybe Benteke £8m

That there is the problem, not that lack of spending.

I actually think they've signed some decent players. Ron Vlaar looks very good, so does Brett Holman. He spent £6m on Ashley Westwood and Matt Lowton, good young players. His big problem is he has players like Bent, Dunne, Given, Ireland and N'Zogbia on huge wages who he wants rid of.

They may be on huge wages and he wants rid of them but they are good players. Maybe he's doing a Phil Brown and upsetting them. Clubs need to evolve rather than have revolutions.

I honestly think they should stick with him IF they want to implement the long-term strategy they clearly have. Its much like Chelsea situation with AVB - he is doing the job he was asked to do long-term. I have no doubts Chelsea wouldve been better in 3 years time if they'd stuck with AVB and would be challening for the title rather than hovver around 4th for the next few years. However I also have no doubts they wouldnt have won the CL with him in charge.

Similarly I have no doubts that a few years down the line Villa will be better for sticking with Lambert. They may get relegated this year but I would bet every penny he would get them back up in the period they receive parachute payments. Another manager may keep them up this season and then stay around lower mid-table for the next decade so what's the point in that?

It's a question of what do you want? Long term improvement with short term pain or very short term success followed by years of mediocrity?

He might be having rather more success if he was actually playing those players, Bent has played less than thirty minutes in the Premier League in the past three months.
