If I remember rightly, the last time Klose played in the world cup he hadn't scored for his club all season.
Admittedly he scored a few for his contry but if he can't do it at club level whats the point, I'd like to see some stats if anyone has them.

If we have the chance to sign a bloke of that quality for free then the wages become less of an issue I would hope. It's ridiculous money mind.

Just because he's free doesn't mean he would be a good signing.. £120,000 over 2 years is like £12.5m, plus he's nearly 33, and he'd just be holding back the progress of a younger striker who has a future at your club.

And most importantly, even though you all won't admit it, if he hadn't been ****e for the last couple of seasons he wouldn't be linked with Sunderland. Desperate signing the kind we made occasionally under fat Fred.

I have my concerns about this one. He's a bit long in the tooth and I have to ask, would he be able to cope with the pace of the PL? Many others have tried and been found wanting i.e Crespo and Chevchenco (spelling!)

He's after a last big payday before retirement, so this could end up being another Tore Andre Flo moment for the club <doh>

On the other hand, he could be a success, but do we want to be taking that risk on a 32 year old who has never played in the PL?

There are better options available IMO, so it's a no from me.

2yr deal (will be almost 35), £90k pw
    Transfer: £0m
    Wages: £9.4m

    Younger forward's wages £30k - £50k pw, therefore:
    £30k pw = equivalent of £6m transfer
    £50k pw = equivalent of £4m transfer

Fans don't usually consider wages, so if we heard we were after Klose for £4m - £6m would we think it good value? Plus, what decent forwards would we get for £4m - £6m?

It's still a no from me though due to age & lack of pace. I just wouldn't take the chance even though he's class. But, as someone else said, if he was still any good then he wouldn't be linked with us...

Klose at £60-70k per week would work. That's about £9M total cost over a couple of years, which ain't bad. The trouble is still supply. He'll finish as well as he ever did, but we can't get the ball to our front men, so is it a good buy?
