Surerly I'm not the only one who hates paying TV LIcence. For me it's another forced bill that is against people's wishes, regardless of whether you watch the beeb or not you MUST pay. A lot of the country now have sky, virgin,bt etc so why can't those customers opt out of having it, or pay additional money to their package if they want it. We have a biased BBC Newcastle and drivel on MOTD. I rarely watch anything they offer but still I must pay. It's annoying that I am forced to pay for a service I don't see fit for me. It's surely time this is reviewed by the government, people will have loads of views on this and there is more I could say but is anyone else feel the same as me?
I officialy opt out. BBC, complete utter and absolute frigging ****e.(except for David Attenbrough....Class act....Go on sky...sign him up)
Surely this can be looked at by those in power. If kicking a terrorist out of our country is against his human right, then paying tv licence is against ours
Me & the wife did this the other week, apart from an isa we could not think of anything we dont pay some kind of tax on? Its shocking!
We live in Great (taxed to f&@k) Britain mate. TV licence, council tax, VAT, NI, Income tax, Fuel duty, Road tax, it goes on and on. Pay up or have a holiday in Durham.
Exactly mate, cars are the worst, fuel duty, car tax, insurance tax, mot, vat, on the road tax, forced renewal of driving license! Bloody ridiculous
Of all the taxes levied against us I'm the least offended by paying for the BBC - the Saville episode and ramifications have dented this but I'm still happy to have commercial free radio and TV. It's one of the things I miss most during my stints in Canada (thank heavens for internet radio so I can still get Radio 4 and the Test Matches live) Like many others I also pay for cable and at around £750 a year I get something 200 channels of ****e (much of it warmed up BBC shows) - the BBC seems like a bargain in comparison.
I for one dont mind paying. The BBC is a true British institution. Its provided quality programming for years, be it Drama, Comedy and documentaries. Granted the sport side of things is lacking. But with all the options online MOTD and others have become secondary viewing. The BBC news is one of the most respected news outlets in the world and is far better than the Murdoch tainted cesspit that is Sky news.
Everytime I read about the massive salaries and pay offs made by the BBC I get angry. Lineker on REDUCED salary of £1.5 million... the BBC world is mad. Their defence is that they must pay the market rate, not bothering to say that they are the market...they inflate very average TV punters pay because they have to spend £3.5 BILLION a year in our taxes somehow. Stop paying, tell them that you only watch TV on line, more and more people are doing so. Especially after the laughable payoff to that entwistle guy for failure.
If you stop paying your TV licence you'll eventually receive a visit from the TV Licence inspector. These people are employed by a private company and, as such, you are not required to answer any of their questions, one of which will, inevitably, be "what is your name." They may also ask to come into your house - again there is no obligation, on your part, to allow the person in your house. If you ask the inspector, politely, if you are obliged to give any information they will definitely confirm that you are not. This leads on to the fact of: how will you be fined if they have no information about the person who owns the TV in your house? The inspector will no doubt mention the maximum fine of £1000 but this can only be achieved if TV Licensing know who they may impose the fine on. Also it is thought that the licensing authority does not have any detector vans currently on the road; they just like to give the impression that these vehicles are available.
It doesn't bother me that the commercial tv & radio stations pump out ****e as it's advertisers money they're wasting. The BBC pump out the same ****e but on public money. The whole institution is a dinosaur & needs overhauling from top to bottom. I watch very little tv & could happily do without one. If you read the small print on the license though it states that if you have an internet connection & no tv, you still need a license even though any tv you pick up on there come through your phone line & not your dish/aerial. It's just modern day highway robbery backed to the hilt by successive governments.

Its what happens when you read the independent and guardian. I also eat lentils and have been known to wear sandals. I enjoy the bbc. I dont enjoy all of it. Jeremy Clarkson can go suck a dick, as can Richard Hammond. Total Wipeout ffs. The Radio service is beyond compare imo. Apart from Radio1. I'd rather have a pig have a watery turd into my ear canal. Its a shame its trying to pander to certain sections of society by trying to put on sub standard broadcasting. Total Wipeout ffs. Do we get value for money? Right now? Probably not. Would I put the BBC into the hands of advertisers? No. But thats just my opinion on the matter. I watch alot on the BBC. I listen to BBC radio a lot. I get my value for money because of the amount I use the service. Each to their own I suppose
That's the whole point though. You're happy to pay it as you use it a lot whilst someone who doesn't use it at all still has to pay. Government backed theft.
People complain about sky football, sky movies and the cost of these, but you aren't forced if you want them you pay, if you don't want them you don't pay. If people enjoy the BBC and want the service then by all means pay, that's fine. But for those of us who don't then we shouldn't be forced to be paying for a service we don't use. You should have a choice but the choice is taken away by fat cats
