Evening all. Just come off my high, been bouncing all day lol. What a fecking win. I felt overall we had the "better" chances, with Michu getting the closest. Usually, you can put your house on him hitting that one in. On to "ball gate". What a ****ing joke. All I'v heard all day on the radio is that ****. No mention of our great win against the european champions. I'v read some of the comments on other threads and it's all tripe. The bal was out of play for about 5 seconds when Hazard decided to butt in. He didn't hide the ball under himself, he fell. Hazard had no right to "kick" the ball, especially when he knows contact would have been made. Deserved red card. Tell me, do you moan when you play at Anfield? They have no ball boys.........Would you kick a spectator if he had hold of the ball? Also, as were discussing "cheats", where's the mention of Ba's blatant dive? Did you seem to forget about that one? Had he got a penalty, and scored it, would you complain? Of course not. Would you complain if you were winning and Petr Cech was time wasting? Of course not. And to say our club instructed our ball boys to time waste is bang out of order. The club have no control over the ball boys actions after the whistle. Why must the actions of a thug tarnish our win? It shouldn't. So anyone that wishes to call our club "cheats" can simply **** off and not visit here again. I am going to celebrate our win!!
Blown out of proportion? Without a doubt. Was the boy at fault? Yes. Who gave him the instruction? Debateable, but the use of his phrase "Needed tonight for time wasting" on Twitter suggests somebody specifically asked him. Leaves a bad taste. Was Hazard at fault? Most definitely. Shouldn't have been anywhere near the lad, let alone try to get the ball off him, regardless of whether contact was made. Is Hazard a thug? Don't make me laugh. A genuine, if ill-advised attempt to get the ball off a kid who was wasting time. The worst thing about all this? It's detracted from our wonderful win. That's my take.
Everytime a 'big' club drops points to us it's always a case of finding a smokescreen/excuse. A la fergie and RVP nearly being killed (whilst not mentioning the flares Man Utd fans were shooting at the home crowd). Big clubs just don't like to accept that this current Swans side have no fear of them at all. The score would have been the same whether Hazard was on the pitch or not. Chelsea had little going forward because we had a game plan and it worked beautifully (again). To be fair though the Chelsea fans have been gracious on these boards at least. The real news was a terrific Swans aggregate win and wembley booked into the calendar!
Can you merge these ball boy threads, just an utter waste of space, just keep everyone who wants to moan and complain about this in one space
Not another thread on the fat arsed ball boy? and from an absent mod too, absolutely disgraceful, hope he's banned from ever going near the Liberty again!............... please log in to view this image
Chico, totally agree with everything you've said there. I listen to talksport all day and they've just loved the fact that there was a major talking point in the game and they milked it beyond belief. Adrian Durham was even more annoying than usual and I didn't think that was possible!! I have to admit that I haved changed my view of the incident slightly after seeing it last night. I initially thought Hazard should have been escorted straight out of the ground and spent the night in a cell, but having seen the replays when I got home it didn't seem quite as bad as it looked live. I'm right in that corner (albeit close to the back) and I thought he put a good boot in and followed it up with a stamp. The crowd by me were going mental and I thought at one point there was going to be a pitch invasion. On reflection though, there wasn't a hell of a lot to it and the ball boy did milk it a bit so I think the red card and just a 3 match ban is about right. It does deflect the attention from our acheivment though, and all the bollocks about time wasting is just an excuse for a poor Chelsea who couldn't score against us in 180 minutes of football. I didn't think time wasting would have done us any favours anyway because it was obviously going to get added on at the end, and I thought that a lot of nervy injury time would have been in Chelsea's favour as they came at us hammer and tongs - even though that never happened. We beat them away and they had the cheek to have a go at our 'smash and grab' (a bit cheeky considering the way they won the champions league) we held them at home and they're crying about time wasting! Absolutely pathetic for a top side
These ball boy threads are funny, Bony's on top form tonight. Fcuk them all Ash, you post what you want
The moaning about the ball boy is surreal. Outside of a sport based on kicking at people there is no justification for kicking people. It seems to be holier-than-thou neutrals stoking it since there's no football and no transfer news today. Chelsea played badly (Mata aside) and ten more minutes of Hazard smashing the ball into row z would've made no difference. Chelsea have no high ground about time wasting either since Cech and everyone else was booked for repeatedly doing it against Barca last year. Barca had to deploy extra ball boys just to stop them!
I'd like to see it at Wimbledon, tbh. The ballboys refusing to give the server any balls (maybe lying on top of them) and then Andy Murray battering them with his tennis racket. Would make good viewing.
A criminal act took place and was witnessed by millions. he must be seen to be punished (heavily) or what sort of message does that send out, cantona had a long ban and hazard has to have the same or longer.....no pussy footing about making excuses. He kicked a civilian and a minor at that and that cannot be brushed under the carpet...
Dai, he didnt deliberately lash out and kick him as can be seen from the reverse camera angle. Hazard kicked the ball from under the ball boy as can be seen by the ball popping out the other side but caught him in the ribs with his shin, it was stupid and reckless and deserved a red card but to say it was a criminal offence is just plain daft
deliberate or not he had no business wrestling with a minor...his fault and his fault only the minute he laid his hands on the lad....
I have some sympathy for Hazard in all this and I don't believe he should be punished 'heavily', Dai. His red card will suffice. Also, the club are guilty of nepotism in making Charlie Morgan a ballboy. There must be thousands of youngsters in the Swansea area who would give their right arm to be a ballboy at the Liberty and make an honest job of it. It's not the remit of ballboys to time-waste. Leave that to the players who run the risk of being carded and additional time added on by the referee.

Top post from you there Aswan, what I would have liked to see is this kid try it on with McEnroe, as you've rightly compared this with Wimbledon, he would have terrified the git, I remember pouring myself a glass of red, which I thought I was doing discretely, while mac was about to serve, maybe the cork was a bit loud, and I was sitting front row centre court by the net, instead he caught the ball, and gave me one hell of a look! man I thought he was going to come over!............... I used to go to all the Wimbledon quarters, semi's and finals back in the eighties, and nineties! I'm one of the last runners on the BBC Wimbledon celebration disc of 1989/90, as after 1989 Wimbledon ended the standing area of the centre court due to 1987 Fire Safety & Safety of Places of Sport Act. Anyway I can tell you that old McEnroe, had one hell of a temper in those days! More useless info from me.......... I was there!...............
I would camp out in in a survival bag outside the main Wimbledon gates with others from around the world, queueing for all the tickets from Middle Thursday up to the finals, would spend just over a week enjoying the tennis in the day, and Covent Garden by night, man what memories, was there for Boris Becker's first Wimbledon final too! Always was athletic, Football was my first love, second came Tennis and then Squash!............... Our watering hole was the Lamb & Flag convent Garden, one of the oldest pubs in convent Garden, and there are about another ten pubs in walking distance too around the Convent Garden square, would watch the street artists in between our refreshments, then take in a curry before heading back to Wimbledon in the early hours, always had someone in the queue to keep our place warm and secure, back at Wimbledon!.......
