I put home in quotes because I'm not entirely sure how far North he needs to be, but certainly further up than Norwich! <ok>

Have our scouts been to the US recently without any media coverage? New names linked to us (yeah, it's twitter) are Eddie Gaven And Chris Pontius, both from the MLS.

    Quick standard summaries:

Eddie Gaven is a 26 yr old USA international attacking midfielder capable of playing on either wing or through the middle. Transfermarkt values him at £350k, and Google thinks his contract, which expires at the end of the calendar year, is worth £2.3k a week. In 260 career league games, the majority being MLS, he's scored 49 goals, averaging about 6 a season.

Chris Pontius is a 25 yr old, who's spent 3 years at DC United. He plays primarily up front, and sometimes on the wings according to transfermarkt, who value him at £300k. In 115 games, he's scored 28 goals and got 15 assists. Contracted until 2014, he's on £1.9k a week apparently.

Quite interesting all the new links with the USA. There is no doubt there must be huge amounts of potential there and they are improving in their standard of football. The players often start a little older as much of their system is based around uni programmes meaning players can be 21/22 when they start. Unlike some other leagues there may also be less concern about the physicality of the premier league. Fitness levels even in college football are very high with many of the players excellent athletes.

I wish I didn't like Hooper and was one of the cool kids that want to bring comrade bradislav olga gurlukavich to Carrow Road from old country.

Come back Strihavka, all is forgiven!

Edit: Just looked him up, he's even a free agent! Talk about a journeyman, at 29, he's already had 12 clubs!

You're far to bland to be cool Beef.

You're posts are the literary equivalent of dining on polystyrene.

The world is a big place Beef, seven billion odd and counting, half of which are men and therefore able to play for us so I'm not sure simply owning a foreign passport is quite sufficient for what Carrabuh is talking about to be fair.

When I last looked we were 13th in the Premier League, arguably the best league in the world. We need to bring in a striker that will score enough goals to ensure we win just four more games to avoid relegation and guarantee untold riches next season. Now we're looking at a journeyman from the MLS FFS ? If Hooper costs £10M, pay it, it's worth it, we CAN afford it, don't **** about with insulting offers for him, just pay it, job done !

I'm sure Hooper or Graham were our first choices, and whilst Graham has gone quiet, Neil Lennon speaking a lot about the bid to me suggests the opposite of his message. He's saying Hooper will stay, whilst I get the feeling Hooper won't be, and it's just a case of trying to squeeze as much money out of us as possible. I'd guess being partially aware of this we deliberately bid low, hence the disgruntlement. They wouldn't have offered Hooper a new contract during January if they knew he was content at the club, and he wouldn't have refused it if he was.

I'd guess it's now a case of us and Celtic trading bids and valuations, and we'll probably meet in the middle around £7-8m. Fingers crossed anyway

I still believe we will get hughton. I think we have 10m to spend total but hughton wants a couple of players.

So we go all out on one or save a bit to get a few.

I'm actually confident ew can still get hooper, it's all about picking your moment. Celtic, despite the bravado, will sell.

That I think is the dilemna. Personally, I would rather buy one quality player (eg - Graham/Hooper) than 3 or 4 mediocre players!!!! PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE - not Marlon King, even if he only costs £1M!!!!

I think we need a striker, and a CB would be nice but maybe Hughton has his eyes on the center of the park as well?

Personally, I'd get Hooper and Curtis Davies and we are good to go. 10m should get them both. Patience is a virtue on both though.

Hooper for 10 Million is not worth it, buying him doesn't guarantee Premier League survival.
