    Interesting. Found this piece online, and I'm not sure what to make of a couple of bits. Madrid and Barca particularly, in order to receive huge cash through sponsorship from Qatar in Barca's case, have had to do things I would find unacceptable just on principle. Both clubs have had to remove 'crosses' from their logo/badges, on all merchandise sold in the middle east because of....offence. These symbols have been part of history for a century or more, but have to be removed today. Sorry, thats wrong. Identities sold to pay for Messi and Ronaldo's wages....mmm!

    Lets hope England and their St. George cross logo and flags don't qualify for the Qatar Finals...or any nation thats had the nerve to use a cross in their national emblem!

    He's the same guy that called Clattenburg a racist, and the whole saga was a cover up by Chelsea and the FA. He's also the same guy that reported Clattenburg to the police, without even being present at the match! He is a fumbling moron of a man, who's only agenda is to promote himself and his society. He's in a 'position' where he should become part of the solution, but instead he has just become part of the problem.

    I'd have to agree with this, to be honest. I can't stand Wenger, but comparing him with the genuinely detestable is a bit much, even in jest.

    I can see the point of not mixing football with religion. For those like me who don't take religion very seriously, it's means no more nor less than my preference for blue over red, and tending to pull for Peter Crouch simply because he's very tall and thin. When I think about waving an Israeli flag at a Spurs game, I'm struck by the coincidence that the colors are Spurs' colors and that therefore it would fit in nicely.

    On the other hand, I keep in mind that Hitler not only would have killed me, people like me (half Jewish) were precisely what the Endloesung was intended to prevent. So I don't have much interest in most things to do with organized religion, but I'm ready to fight against anti-Semitism (whether against Jews or Muslims--they're both Semites), racism, homophobia and any other toxic prejudice.

    A couple of interesting ethnic/national identifications in baseball: The Pittsburgh Pirates, and especially their cap, have been popular with rap musicians either because it's about the only black baseball cap, or because the Pirates in 1970 were the first to field an all-black team. (It's possible, though not likely, I was at that game.) They've also been adopted to some extent by Puerto Rico because the greatest boricua player, Roberto Clemente, played his entire career there.

    Notso where did u find that article?

    On the EDL or BNP website? It's just taken some example and thrown them all together to exaggerate their point.

    If football clubs wanna break into the Middle Eastern market then surely its a no brainer to do what they can to stand the best chance and removing one horizional line on a badge is hardly a big deal is it.

    It's an American conservative think-tank, King. They don't seem to be very Muslim friendly! <laugh>

    Surely that's what you do King in any argument. All the points are related and together build a case. I do not feel strongly on this either way as I also find Crowns for example slightly retrograde but I am not going to make an issue of it.

    It's little different to selling stadium naming rights or plastering sponsers names on shirts which are far more intrusive IMO.

    I could quite easily take that you're suggesting I read such stuff, but for now I'll leave it that it can be read two ways. The answer is no, further back there was a mention of not knowing if their were any islamic/muslim football teams in Europe, wasn't sure myself with the introduction of Turkey, so that is what I googled, and I just read the first few sites. https://www.google.co.uk/#hl=en&tbo...pw.r_qf.&fp=b987864691354c7e&biw=1280&bih=677 The first one was naming muslim players and I was surprised to see Edin Dzeko and Franck Ribery, surprise being that I didn't know before, not that they are.

    The second was what I posted and if your opinion about the Spaniards changing their logo's is unimportant, thats all you had to say really.

    Would yours or anyone elses change for that matter, this is an open question to all, if lets say the Spurs 'To Dare Is To Do' crest had crosses where the red lions are and they had to be removed, it wouldn't bother you?

    If its just a red line as you simply put it...why can't it stay there? and if an inconspicuous small red cross on a white background is so offensive to Qatari's, how is an England supporter going to get on during the WC over there?

    <ok>
