Some managers don't, although he somehow got his team promoted last season without knowing the rules.
Richard Cawley‏@RichCawleySLP Still remains question of what is value for money in terms of fee, wages and length of deal for a 31-year-old. #cpfc Malyon‏@eaamalyon @RichCawleySLP Hull said to be offering 23k pw. I'd hope we wouldn't compete with that. @RichCawleySLP @eaamalyon Sounds like other teams prepared to gamble more than Palace. Which is totally right approach. @eaamalyon @RichCawleySLP entirely agree. would be gutted to see us fork out those sort of wages for a 31-year-old with his record.
The longer the completion of the DJ Campbell transfer go's on makes me wonder if it will be harder to get him, reports from the Crystal Palace site and London papers say Ian Holloway is still very interested. If Saha does go then they will have plenty of money and with location he may decide to go there. I know Holloway said earlier in the week he thought Hull were favourites but he is a very crafty manager and who can blame him i think once he as the cash things will change. Lets hope i am wrong and i still think its in the balance but time will tell
Perhaps we are winning the race as Palace are now looking at Nick Blackman from Sheff U: http://www1.skysports.com/football/...ve-for-Sheffield-United-striker-Nick-Blackman
You do get the feeling we're at the mercy of fate on this one. It would be brilliant if we could sign Morison and walk away from it.
I agree with everything these say. Blackpool would never have paid him that and he was at his peak with them. And I still worry about this "3 year contract" in that it CLEARLY will be a 3 and a half year contract. That's too long on this money.
As has been said before if he gets us to the promised land again 23k a week will be peanuts. We will probably have to put the other players wages up to about that anyway if we get there
Its not the salary, it's the length of contract - 2 and a half year deal yes, 3 and a half year deal NO. Have we learned nothing as a club? There wont be mental, rich muslims to rescue us every time....
No, the mental rich Muslims will be bank rolling us this time. They aren't stupid and if they are willing to take the risk then so be it.
Seem to remember, way back in the annals of history, we hung on and on for another Campbell until we got **** on right at the death when it was too late to get anybody else in. Let's hope the lessons have been learnt.
I hope we aren't giving him 23000 a week, hes decent but never worth that, I'd rather gamble on Gedo and give proschwitz a run in the team
I doubt Gedo is coming now. His latest comment was "I wish the management of the club would [accept] the offer, it's a chance of a lifetime for me" That sounds to me like Al Ahly told him and us no.
