No...the Coutinho thread on Red and White Kop forum is hilarious though. They have gone from being convinced he is about to sign, to slitting their wrists thinking we are getting him. Truth is though...no one seems to have a clue!

 

To be fair I think this would be excellent for JWP, he's not going to get a prolonged runout here this season, particularly now we are out of the cups.

 

I like the fact that other teams are worried about our purchasing power

 

Yeah read some o the posts made me laugh, some saying why would Coutinho go to Saints etc.

 

The same reason Forren was diverted to us...we went higher and they wouldn't match it. Though in that case they weren't fully committed either.

 

IMHO, we don't have enough depth to be able to have the luxury of loaning him out although i believe it would be great kind of club for his development.

 

Depends...if the rumours are true and we're going after one of Biglia/Verdu, he'll be fairly far down the depth chart in the short-term.

 

There's an ITK lad on a LFC forum who seems well regarded by his equals, and he says "Southampton's interest is very real".

We're in for him...

The lack of 'Saint Coutinho' thread surely must put him off from coming here

 

LFC fans on twitter saying Coutinho not interested in move to saints? this hasnt been reported has it?

 

The Telegraph seem to think he's not interested, not quite sure how they would know this.

Rodgers has increased his offer for the Brazil international after further negotiations with Inter over the past 48 hours and remains confident of striking a deal despite competition from Southampton.

Liverpool’s latest bid is expected to be their last and they are not prepared to enter into a bidding war with Southampton, who have offered £10 million.

Mauricio Pochettino, the new Southampton manager, worked with Coutinho at Espanyol last season and his club have agreed to meet Inter’s asking price for the 20-year-old.

But it is believed Coutinho is not interested in a move to St Mary’s and Liverpool hope to agree a deal before the weekend.

Liverpool’s initial £6 million bid was rejected late last week but they have restructured their latest offer and agreed to pay an extra £2 million up front. Inter have been beset by financial problems and could find the promise of £8 million difficult to turn down.

Coutinho will require a work permit to seal a move to the Premier League and this week’s haggling means it is now unlikely he will make his debut against Oldham Athletic in the FA Cup on Sunday.

They haven't had chance to sit him down and put the DVD on yet!!!

 

It could be they assume he wouldn't choose SFC over Liverpool and tbf they could be right. Does show the money is there though.

Apparently MP has said in an interview that he won't sign any players from espanyol so that rules verdu out for now. Coutinho I can see happening but it would be a massive coup if we manage it. Bigger than Gaston

 

Have to say that they seem more reasonable people than most football fans. (Haven't read it all though).
