Staying until the end of the season Tottenham have allowed their recall clause on the England Under-21 international to lapse and that means Rose will now be at the Stadium of Light for the rest of the campaign. There had been talk earlier this month that Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas would opt to bring the youngster back to White Hart Lane but O'Neill has revealed that the Londoners needed to activate that right by January 17 to allow the Black Cats to get someone in as Rose's replacement. The date has now passed and O'Neill is delighted one of Sunderland's best players of the season so far will remain until the summer at least. "The loan deal contained an option for Spurs to recall Danny this month, but they had to exercise that option by January 17," O'Neill said. "I'm pleased to say that they haven't done so, so he will be with us for the rest of the season and that is really good news. "I know that Andre Villas-Boas said last month that he intended to let him stay here for the season and I never felt he would change his mind - unless, of course, they had injury problems. But at least we now know for sure." Rose is currently out with a hamstring injury but is expected to be fit by the end of the month and O'Neill, who could make an offer to sign Rose permanently in the summer, added: "Danny has done very well for us in the first half of the season and hopefully he will continue where he left off when he recovers from his hamstring injury."
Been talking to a colleague today, who plies his trade in the EPL on a weekly basis and he has told me that Spurs and Levy in particular are fully aware of how well Rose is doing at Sunderland and the great increase in the level of his development. What he has suggested is that Spurs have deliberatly chosen not to recall him as the remainder of the season (with the same degree of development and improvement ) will inflate his current value two or threefold, and it will be at the end of the season that we will be held to ransom for a crazy fee.
Typical levy! I've said before we are being used in this one, granted we are getting a season out of him and will pay well ott or lose him, think mon has learnt a lesson here by looking at loan deals abroad which automatically come with an option to buy. He's probably learnt that spurs are a twat of a club to do business with
Hi all, Spurs fan in peace. Was going to start an article about him to see how he's getting on, but I see you have one already. Any further comments on the lad? Sounds like you're all pretty happy with him! I thought he did pretty well for Spurs in his limited opportunities but there were always a few question marks over his defensive abilities. I think your chances of signing him permanently in the summer are pretty good, the hope at Spurs is that young Zeki Fryers will be the one to take over from Assou-Ekotto when the time comes.
He's doing great and the run of consecutive games in defence has definitely brought him on mate, whisper it quietly but he looks every bit a future England left back to us. I have to say though, I am sick of being held to ransom from Levy and if he starts his **** with stupid prices, I would simply hand Rose back and tell him to **** off, and mean it.
Oh and for your future left back, you should be looking at Luke Shaw from Southampton, he looks like Gareth Bale part 2. He will be out of our reach but looks one hell of a talent to me.
Yeah have noticed a lot of hype about him in the last few weeks though haven't seen him play yet. Remarkable how they seem to churn out one of these unusually gifted youngsters every couple of years.
