Hi lads, im a massive French Ligue 1 fan, watching with interest what is going on at your Club

Ill tell you now, you are signing top quality players, they are all class, iv been watching them grow over the last few seasons

Do you lads believe it is Pardew doing the signings?? seems strange him not been French and all..


Can see Laurent Blanc or Christophe Galtier in charge very soon

 

This was something i was thinking, Blanc is avaliable at the moment and would be a great manager if we get rid of Pardew.

I believe Pardew tells the club the positions he wants to strengthen and Carr, Derek and Charnley find and try to buy the player.
I do think he will be kept in the loop but he isn't the key decision maker by a long stretch of the imagination.

This is Carr's remit. France produce home-grown players who, unlike Spain, suit the English style. German players tend to stick to their shores or head for the top of Europe, Italians rarely work out here. But some of the Prem's best have been French - Henry, Pires, Vieira, Barthez, Blanc. Even the likes of Drogba were mostly French-educated (in football terms). In addition, Ligue 1 cannot compete even with our modest finances, and few clubs have our fanbase/support/facilities (Paris aside). So that's where Carr spends most of his time. He has links to Eredivisie, but the worry there is there isn't the strength of league that we have. Siem De Jong is a good example - clearly a top player, but the only one we've been linked with there.

I don't think the 'next' manager has anything to do with it. Ashley isn't sanctioning these players to spite the manager and entice someone else. That's as absurd as thinking Pards is only employed to repay a debt.

 

all im thinking is if Pardew doesn't connect well with them all, or speak some of the language, he could have a mutiny on his hands, and a spilt camp

well all i can say, is the quality is there iv seen it, you have got some fantastic talented French young players now so getting them to gel as a Team is next

 

That said, isn't Arsene Wenger looking for a new challenge....buys low, sells high....

Welcome Rolling_Thunder!

Some of us (*cough* just me *cough*) would like to see a french coach like Gourcuff arrive, but I think Pardew will have a bit longer than anyone anticipates because he seems to have some form of relationship with the owner. Whether that involves gambling debt, social interaction or a bit of light spanking on weekends, I think he's here, whether we want him or not, for a while yet.

 

Just out of interest Rolling Thunder, who are you referring to particularly of our new signings being top quality? There are a few who doubt whether Gouffran and the Left Back Haidara? will cut it in the Prem. Can you give us your insight please?

 

Graham Carrs handy work. His knowledge of Ligue 1 is as good as it gets.
