Just read this on the SSN website. Very balanced and a good read I thought. Sorry if this has been posted before. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11096/8428233/Saints-masterplan?
At the time of his sacking he was the longest-serving manager in la Primera by some way - it's pretty damn hard to stay in any job in Spain for longer than three years. Blimey.
Yep, I've seen similar analyses elsewhere in the last couple of days, looks like some people at least have had time to digest this event and think about the context.
It did start to make me think about the timing of the "mutual cancellation of his contract" back in November. His subsequent announcement when he joined us that he'd been researching the team for weeks seems to suggest that the two events were not entirely unrelated.
Ah wow, if you look at the first video in that article, a spanish (assuming by his accent?) pundit claims that Jose Mourinho contacted Southampton to tell us that we would not go wrong appointing Pochettino. Impressive if true...
So, has he been learning English for a couple of months then? Hope he's able to do interviews on his own soon, so it doesn't look like a Harry Enfield sketch everytime. Bit of a cringe.
Yeah that's Guillem Balagué, who pretty much confirmed the news that Pochettino was coming here before it happened as well. He's an Espanyol fan and friend of Pochettino.
Agree HR. Listening to radio Solent after the game on Monday, after the interpreter, I was thinking 'is that REALLY all he said!!'
'is that REALLY all he said!!' _____________________ Moe Po was saying loads & the guy just basically went, 'yeah, happy to be here.' If was funny, but did make me cringe.
This article is a real rarity amongst the jobbies that are usually presented as journalism these days. It's an intelligent piece that represents facts from all perspectives. It's also nicely juxtaposed with one of the oddest comments I've ever seen; "I have a strong sense that Saints will get into europe within 3 years with this guy.......and then perhaps we might go down again back into league 1"
Good article. Althouh I'm still not especially happy with the decision, I respect that Cortese knows a lot more than we do and will have had his reasons.
I used to watch the Spanish Football on Sky (don't have sky now) and I remember this guy being really ITK. I don't remember him getting too many things wrong so it'll be interesting to hear what he says about transfers in the next week or so.
