Is it my perception or are the more articulate football pundits on the BBC stations? One just has to think how measured Jimmy Armfield is when giving a response. Pity he is not on the radio more often!!

Because they are journalists first and foremost, instead of the recognisable former stars you get on TV. Pat Nevin on MOTD2 last night was superb I thought. Biggest indictment of MOTD punditry was made by Hansen and Murray who actually teamed up against Nevin to mock his apparently unorthodox (but actually insightful) views.

Hope to see more of him on MOTD in future; a real breath of fresh air.

I completely agree! I was only just saying to a mate the other day how good Nevin is.

In fairness Kean kept Blackburn up that season. And Allardyce was less popular at Blackburn than Adkins was in Southampton.

Garth Crooks is embarrassingly bad though.

Still articulate compared with Merson and Le Tiss! As I do not have SKY nor have any intention of ever doing so, I have not got the slightest idea who their "experts" are!! I'll stick with 5 Live for the match this evening. Let them and the crowd conjure up an image of what is happening out on the pitch.

In fairness, Le Tiss is actually very articulate, particularly in ex-footballer terms.

Whether he's articulate has little to do with it. He's far from being an expert on football. And yeah, Le Tiss is actually pretty bright.

Who cares what Le Tiss says these days. He's a fan and is entitled to his own opinion. Just like some fans on here you can agree with him or not. The difference between him and the rest of us is that he kept us in the Prem for years and entertained us more than any player before and since. He loves this club alot more than many here i wager. Some fans seem to have very short memories of what he did for us. Then are quick to jab at him when he says something they disagree with. What he did affected the club. What he says these days doesn't.

Merson is a twat though. But i didn't really expect him to say anything nice about us.

The best pundits these days seem to be the more recently retired players. Been quite impressed by Dion Dublin on Final Score this season.

That's what the pundit panels should be these days IMO. Recent players and out of work managers.

I wil not pay for Sky EVER. Not even the basic package of american garbage.

On the plus side if I did have Sky I would not be watching SSN until Garth Crook's eyeballs finally exploooooooooooode. Getting closer each week. And his head is starting to remind me of that Voilet girl in Charlie and the Chocolate factory. The one who swells up :)

Talking of pundits. Gary Neville was immense on Sky last night.

At least he's acknowledging Shaw as he's put him in his team of the week 2 weeks running.

Nice one Jen.......there is a few of those so called pundits who pretend to know a lot about a team and it's fans. At the end of the day they open their mouths and what comes out is a lot of hot air and a lot of that stuff I spread on the garden now and again. (See I remembered our younger element and that for the moment the swear filter is off.)...............<laugh>

Thing is he is a pundit with an opinion and he is prepared to share it, whether you agree or not is another matter. Better that than someone who sits on the fence and is scared to say what they really think, surely?
