Mcnally has said we've inquired about an "international player" and what we got quoted could buy an average premier league squad... Hooper?
They interviewed one the directors at Victor Chandler on Sky last Friday when Southampton sacked Adkins, apparently in the space of hour some bookies reportedly had people putting £500 bets on Mauricio Pochettino taking over. Dodgy business I can imagine there is loads of slimy characters in the sidelines of football clubs.
Agree Munky. I've never been one for gambling or betting but overall the bookies are always going to win.
Thing is, if most people knew what was going on and found a bookmaker offering odds, then I'm sure they would do it. Slightly immoral perhaps but probably not illegal.
An average squad?? Who have we possibly inquired after who we thought was realistic but would cost £30m or so according to the selling club? By "international", does it mean a player from abroad, or a player in their respective national squad? Either way, I doubt it's Hooper, because as much as it feels it, Scotland isn't abroad, and Hooper isn't an England international. Where did you see this?
I think when mcnally says international, he means beyond the borders or England. Not actually an international full capped player
A £9.6m bid for Yann M'vila from Rubin Kazan has been accepted, can Newcastle or QPR match that? Only problem is apparently the player wants to come to Britain, so the fee may drop to accomodate that.
I agree DH, it probably isnt Hooper because he is neither abroad nor an international. I think the average prem team must be worth at least £15m! Being quoted in and around this much for players could mean that either we are really showing high aspirations or the player in question is just worth that much to the club?
DHC Its been reported that RK have a UEFA / FIFA transfer embargo for failing to pay transfer fees and player wages so not sure he could be registered with them.
I think £15m is on the low side, that's not even £2m per player, our starting XI is probably close to that, and we've possibly got one of the cheapest squads in the league. Annoyingly, I think we're now getting to the point in the transfer window where prices will start to go up, as it's getting a bit late to bring replacements in. I'm hoping the reason we haven't signed anyone is that we're letting the selling club line up a replacement first. I really hope that's why, anyway. On the M'Vila front, it seems really odd to bid if you aren't allowed to sign anyone! Unless it's a case of showing the money is there if they wait until the summer to sell.
Yeah perhaps closer to £20m but my point still stands that this could show signs of intent from our board if we are aiming for players worth this much, whether generally or just to the club. Would be nice to know who it was so we could make our own judgements as to whether the club in question were right with there valuation and so we could see just what level of player our club are looking to bring in!
Is this person writing in English? It took me ages to read the last paragraph! http://www.footballfriendsonline.co...ooking-at-back-up-as-norwich-hunt-hooper.html
Metro reckon Spurs have a serious interest in Hooper now too. I'm beginning to feel we're not going to sign anyone...
I know people are saying "we don't need" to sign anyone this window but i would be seriously P155ED OFF if we dont improve our attacking options and get left with Morison, Jackson and Kane as back up to Holt. I think Morison and Jackson are good Championship strikers at best (though Jackson is slightly better) and Kane is too young to be seriously challenging Holt for a starting positions (which is what you want really). I know, I know, money doesn't grow on trees and good strikers don't come cheap but I think we probably do have the money to spent (I reckon more than many on here would think based on the bids that are being mentioned). Maybe we are willing to take a bit of a financial gamble give where we are in the league and how sh1te we have been in the last few games!
chin up DH, the window is now hotting up. if teams like spurs are seriously interested, then that could be a problem (hooper) if he has a choice of clubs.
I saw this, and have to say was worried about things as soon as Celtic announced they had turned the bid down. Honestly cant see him coming here if Spurs are really interested.
