F1Zone.net ‏@f1zone Sport Bild, which has had a pretty good 24 hours, is reporting that Paddy Lowe is leaving McLaren for Mercedes #f1 Next personnel decision at Mercedes: Following the announcement of the Austrian Toto Wolff as its new managing director and part owner of the Mercedes Formula 1 team , the team, according to SPORT BILD information currently McLaren chief engineer Paddy Lowe recruited (50). Lowe is considered confidant of the new Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and McLaren as head of the brilliant engineer collective. Without anger should not run the deal. How SPORT BILD learned of the new Mercedes-CEO Toto Wolff has recruited the British Lowe actually for his former Williams team. He was also Managing Director today. Prepared: Now he takes the British mastermind simply to Mercedes . The competition is listening to at the exchange. Red Bull motorsport chief Helmut Marko about the upcoming change of personnel: "This is a hammer" However, insiders also question whether Ross, the new Mercedes-constellation plus the People Lowe referred to Mercedes team boss Brawn and Nick Fry is his right hand. In England, there is speculation that the two are about to throw in the towel. OMFG what a steal if true!!!!! Rock on 2013!
Lol omfg, Paddy Lowe, of my freaking god! Lewis, Toto, Lauda, Brawn, Lowe. Lol watch out RBR/Ferrari!!
Are McLaren going to become the new Williams? Anyway Paddy should become TD, rumours going about that Brawn and Fry arn't too happy with certain developments in the team, expect them to go next I reckon. Mercedes are pushing far harder than I ever expected!
Silverarrows fanboy/Seb fanboy I was a fan of the Silverarrows before Seb became WDC and way before Lewis got onboard so really I'm left in a pickle now Awaits the new Merc fanboys
Lowe has been pretty good with McLaren over the past 3 years, Bob Bell of the 05-06 WDC's with Renault to work with as well, Aldo Costa, Geoff Willis, some real firepower if it's true! All you would need now is Horner/Newey/Seb and the Silverarrows will kill the field.
It would become the biggest flop in known F1 history? You hired the best designers, the best engines on the grid, the best drivers, the best managers, added another 50 million etc.... If Mercedes fail, it will be bigger than Toyota, Honda and Jaguar combined!
Somehow I don't think a failure like that is earthly possible, but you are right about what it compares to.
I smell the 50's coming back, they were tapping up Seb/Newey/Horner before this all happend. If Ferrari don't pick themselves up they will lose Seb to Mercedes I reckon and Heppenheim is only 1hr 30 mins away from Stuttgart so it's an ideal location to train in the simulator rather than Brackley. **Hopefully Eric Boullier is next and replaces Brawn. There also was talk of Brawn going back to Ferrari...
Nah Lowe will be made into TD, the rest will be told to fall in line now including Bob Bell, now that toto, Lewis and Lauda walked in.
How can Bell, Willis, Costa, Lowe and Brawn all work for one team- it's crazy. I would be amazed if Lowe went there given that I just can't see how all of these similarly intelligent design geniuses can work together. Perhaps two of them will be working on 2014, whilst the others concentrate on this year?
