Not really sidelined...Still on the whole money thing. Let it run. If you are getting paid 35k a week reguardless of anybody else, you should not need a bonus motivation to make you play well. Just think about where we have come from. Then think about the 35k CRAZY! We were all concerned about Ferrie Bodde being on 5k not so long ago
If you look Rhys, FFS is right, Dai's been up to his old nonsense on a few threads over the past few days. As for wages, you pay for what you get in today's game. If you want quality then you have to fork out. However I would hate to see us end up in a Walcott like situation where he had the club over a barrel with his recent alleged wage demands.
The 8Million pound bonus will be paid if we reach the top 6 in the table, and who will try to get us there? Yes the players. Last year when we reached 40 points there was no real incentive for the players to bust a gut and from the last 9 games they only gained 8 points. This season they have a great incentive, hopefully they will react differently. I see that Brendan likes our ideas and wants it introduced at Liverpool!
This could just be paper talk-who can prove the figure correct. Only the club and the player know and they are not going to divulge if true! Pure speculation!
Its not a question of the players not entitled to a bonus because they are BUT so are the fans entitled a share for all the money and support we give. Part of that money is for what we fans who go to watch them in all weathers and the jack army who has a good following for away matches...Instead of paying obscene amount of money to players who earn again obscene amounts of money to play a game give something back to the fans...Wait until next season and you will find as usual your shirts will be out of date and you will be itching to buy the new shirt...well instead of charging £45 for one drop the price and reward the fans for their support.....After all we are suppose to be part of the club just like the players so any bonuses should be for all and not for the few...
As much as I hate to say this but we are not entitled to anything other than what we pay for and that is to watch a football game. As has previously been stated football is a commercial enterprise and we are the customer. If I purchase x amount of products from ASDA every week, which in turn goes towards their end of year profits does that entitle me to a share, after all I have stayed loyal and not gone to TESCOs all year round, probably not. Its the same principle. Just because we have an emotional investment into the success of our club doesn't mean the club have an obligation to us moral or not. It would be nice to think that they would and in some ways they do. It may not be much but fixing season ticket prices this year is one way they have given back.
Exactly Bap, some see football clubs as not a business but something else, all they need to look at is what hmrc defines them as, very much a business. For every offer or discounts here and there must come out of the bottom line of the club. They have no obligation to offer anything.
Sorry i shop at iceland and they give their customers a bonus, so do tesco. Why not give something back to the fans because without us they would not be earning as much as they do anyway, They could do it in a number of ways like dropping prices for cup matches or assist fans who go to away matches or through merchandise in the club shop. there are lots of businesses who reward customers with bonuses. Banks do it, clothes shops do it plenty do it...
The swans do as you suggest Dai in a limited way like 20% off adidas gear, keeping season ticket prices the same as last year, they have assisted away fans already. The shops have stuff like tesco club points for example, but they use the data collected to target adverts at you when you get club points, they most certainly don't do it for the goodness of their hearts. And they don't have is a moral obligation to do the above like you stated earlier in the thread, they don't in fact have to do anything as they have a captive audience, and as any businessman will tell you that will enable companies to milk that as much as possible and make a profit.
I don't think they do enough and should they amass an £8 million bonus or lower then the fans should be rewarded also...They have short memories if they don't as when we were skint we went around the vetch collecting money in buckets to help towards players wages...now the good times are here they could give a little back as a thank you if not morally for helping keep the club going. I strongly believe we are owed some respect....
Shop in iceland do you? Long way to go for food.. Swans is a buisness end of. They owe us fans nothing apart from trying to put value for money out on the field which they do, what more can somebody possibly want from the club? Why should they give us fans anything? Most of our fans dissapeared for years and were happy to vote with their feet when we were scraping around the lower leagues, now that we have started to do well its not enough to put premier league product on the field they have to give us a tesco like club card and vouchers!.. As jager said, they do make featured to the fans, kiss for a quid was always going the last few years, you cant blame them for operating the same way as the rest of the premier league clubs, its the nature of the beast im afraid

Agreed Norway, the best way the club can reward the fans is by improving the quality of players on the pitch each season.
Well they can only give limited things Dai, if they started for example giving a 50% discount on tickets, or buy one get one free in season tickets we'll soon be back with the begging buckets at games. For example if they gave a couple of million back at the fans in various discounts and offers, would you want that instead of buying a player like Michu ? Any business must invest to make money, an investment with a player is going to bring returns back to the business, an offer etc is just going to take money away from the club with no chance of a return.
