Russia would be the worst thing for us, We get Livermore if spurs get him so that would still be ok for us.
Another player prepared to put up with serious abuse for 4.5m a year. Can't say I blame the lad but great pity for us.
We didn't sit against the Pool Oddball, that's the point. We went 4-4-2 and were overrun in midfield. If we had of sat like we did against Spurs I think we might have beaten them. Other than Suarez, they're a very average team. Spurs are far superior. Anyone that loses at home to Liverpool in this day and age should be embarrassed.
We did set up to hold them ... it lasted ten minutes and we collapsed in spectacular style by 16 minutes ... why? because Rat boy was on fire that day he led the line very well indeed plus no one has mentioned the fact that they owed us for last year so they were pumped we got caught out but i agree without the rodent they are very ordinary. Hopefully last game of this season will be a friendly. On that day i saw it we set with Cisse up on his own with Adel floating. I believed at the time that i was watching Liverpool's best performance and to be fair they have kicked on since then
Correct on all 3 counts. We played 4-4-1-1 (4-5-1) that day. The main problem was that we had Mbia and Diakite in central midfield and neither one knows how to play the holding role. Our back four were completely exposed. Derry has since shown them how to play in that position imo and consequently we have been a lot more solid.
Harry has since said he didn't....................and that he should have! After that game he went entirely differently and has packed the midfield since. Compare the Liverpool set up to the following games v Chelsea and Spurs. Totally different. If we had someone sitting in front of the back four that day, Suarez' threat could have been nullified or a least curtailed. Just like we did in the following two games.
Even Redknapp says we played 442 against liverpool and were too attacking. Id agree it could be seen as a 4411 but not a 451.
Flyer talking sense for once. Anyone seeing that as a 4-5-1 is seriously lacking in the football knowledge department.
Thats how i saw it also and based on that i think we need to give a lot of credit to Derry he knows exactly how to play that role ... its more about discipline and patience and reading the game. I agree Mbia Diakite not a good combo at all as its panning out. Ratboy on that day was simply outstanding and that second goal killed us. He had a great day as even Nedum Onuoha's brilliant clearance went back to the rodent
Ned was all over the shop on Saturday unfortunately. He can do a job there at times but a full back he is not.
Taarabt was clearly floating that was never a 442 not in a million years even if Harold said that we haven't started with two up front for a while. Derry has been key IMO as he came on at half time and with the game lost Harold got his answer ... very good management as he used the second half to learn a lot
only reason a player would choose to go to Russia is for the money If thats all he cares about then we should forget him. hope he freezes his bollocks off
As you well know flyer, 4-4-1-1 nearly always becomes 4-5-1 when you don't have the ball. Depends on who is in behind the forward. Against Liverpool it was Adel and he does work back from that position. I view nearly all formations that start with 4 at the back as 4-5-1 when the ball is lost, as do a lot of coaches. On our web site the formation against Liverpool is not described as 4-4-2.
Christ on a bike have you lost your marbles since last i was here? He is one player I can tell you is one of the first currently on the sheet ... quality player and a quality person. I would go as far as to say he could play across the back as well as midfield if required. I may be going for a contract with Diageo in Dublin so if that happens i will buy you a meal and teach you the game if you like? It's not Soccer. What are rents like in the dublin area
Agree with this. It's a serious problem that some of our players are never good enough for some on here. For the record, he has been one of our better players since he joined while never quite convincing that he is a natural in any position. He has some irritating habits -not least the tendency to throw himself to the ground when tackled but as he has shown since the sending off at Arsenal he has learned that particular lesson. Unlike Diakite for example. It is down to the manager to sort out. He can play in a number of different roles and is probably best regarded as a utility player. His interaction with the fans away from home, making the effort to walk over and into the away end to give his shirt to one of our younger fans give him he potnetial to be one of our club legends. At this moment I would say he is better suited to a purely defensive role simply because he tackles so well while his distribution though good (certainly by the current standards of his team mates at the moment) leaves a bit to be desired.
