I didn't understand the logic of starting him. Ramsey has been surprisingly good recently, he earned a shot at the starting job.
Sorry mate but in my opinion Coquelin is never going to get close to Arteta or Silva he's probably Wengers love child who is a rubbish footballer we have better players behind him in the queue for first team but Wenger keeps them back too long while he persists in ****
I almost agree with this, but think Ramsey has been showing signs of improvement for a while now. The way he is going I can see him and Wilshere forming a great midfield partnership. My quandary is whether it would be more attacking with a DM behind them or deeper with an AM in front, Cazorla in the current squad.
I would pick Coq over Gordon any day of the week. Ramsey needs to go play for someone else because he doesn't have the brain to be an effective Arsenal player. I'm sure he is a nice lad and everything, but time to say bye bye. Diaby is also weak minded (as well as being weak bodied) and will never cut the mustard with us. He cost us a goal yesterday because he was still crying to himself about a nothing incident that took place minutes before losing the ball. Prize twat. Coq is worth persevering with imo.
Couple of things Arteta main influence in the DM position is his movement , reading of the game and doing the simple things well , not necessarily strong or good in the tackle , but those attributes make up for it To say Coquelin needs a run of games to show his potential/current ability, surely thats what the reserves /U21 games are for , which im pretty sure he has had a fair few games in this season
I did tell you that in your match thread before the game, there's no need for him in any game. He isn't better than Ramsey defensively (in fact he's worse positionally) and is average to bad in everything else. Coquelin has never shown he can become a decent player, people that dedicated the second half performance at Swansea to him must have been watching another game. That day we just defended by attacking. When they had more of the ball Coquelin had enough time to show his incompetence.
Against Chelsea he was needed and Wenger also felt the same way. I wanted him to sit deeper and try and protect our back four alongside Diaby, but he was not strong enough and Diaby was just ****, Ramsey has never done that job, Arteta proved to be a big miss in the end. Ramsey has done well off the bench every time and he has earned his start.
Just goes to show the difference of opinion some people have. I think Ramsey is starting to show his ability again and has probably the highest workrate in the team along with Wilshere so definitely worth keeping. Coq on the other hand was a great young player but isnt improving as much as I would have liked. He still has potential but I'm beginning to lose hope of him reaching the top level required to play for us. I nearly forgot Diaby, great potential but at 26 still showing he has the same old problems yesterday.
Ramsey doesn't just 'run' though, he puts in a committed shift that involves attacking and defending. He needs to improve his urgency in finding a forward ball , instead of passing sideways or backwards - but you could argue that other than wilshere so does the rest of our midfield. Other than that Ramsey is a decent player, who looks like he's starting to regain some of his early career form.
