I cant see any need for Camp to come in...Rudd has shown himself to be capable of standing in when needed and IMO i would rather see him being given a chance than another keeper coming in. At the start of this season i would have been happy with Rudd as a back up to Ruddy...glad we signed Bunn though as that would have left us a little short with Ruddy out. Camp would be a waste of a squad spot and wages even on a short term deal.
I dont believe we are looking at camp for the short term, i think it is the long game we are playing with keepers as ruddy being an england international will no doubt be looked at in the summer for one of the top six teams. Not saying he will go anywhere but Norwich are looking at Camp for the next six months to see if he is capable to replace as i dont think Bunn is the long term answer but has done very well. I did like Camp when he was on loan here from Derby a number of years ago, well apart from his own goal
Well, we apparently dismantles our European scouting network to avoid administration. I imagine Wigan didn't. Let's not forget they've spent a good few years in the Prem now.
wigan have been in the PL for what 7 or 8 seasons, so have had time to build up some sort of scouting network you would have thought - ok they are a small team but they must have something. Also 7 or 8 years of premier cash plus they are a selling club, they have money.
That's a good point. If that's the case though, I'd want a short term (max 2 year) contract on Camp, and loan him out
The only reason why I think another 'keeper coming in is to send Rudd and Steer out on loan at the moment as they are our only back up. We want Rudd and Steer to be getting experience. We would have perhaps been able to send them out on loan if Ruddy hadn't been injured.
If, as reported we are preparing a second bid for Hooper in the region of £7M, it's a serious gamble but I believe a 'stella' signing like that would be huge lift for the players and fans alike. We need, IMO, at least four wins to stay up doesn't sound a lot, but we all know it won't be easy. Bringing in Hooper would be a real coup for our club and would show real ambition and I reckon he's got the goals in him to ensure we get those wins.
.............another thing, conversely, after all the hype about City signing someone of real quality, it could have an adverse affect if we fail to land our man and we really could go into freefall. What do you guys reckon ?
Hooper would be a great signing but so would Graham, not sure if we dont sign either we will go in to free full as i believe the palyers we have are good enough for at least a 14th place finish. IMO The only thing i would like to see is a change of formation and the use of Fox, but i trust Hughton and his team after a ten game unbeaten run we know how to win and get points. we have played some tough games over Xmas and new year so i am sure we will get back on track soon.
I'm hoping we don't have to go above £7.5M for Hooper and agree that it would give everyone at the club a lift. Should he get a goal(s) that ensures our PL survival, then whatever we pay for him will become insignaificant!!!!

Interesting read DH if we do look to purchase Anderlechts forwards I could imagine there being a fair bit of competition, I'm sure there is some other Belgian clubs worth looking at they are churning out players left right and centre. As for the Lee Camp rumour if its a short term contract and it keeps Bunn on his toes then I'm all for it.
We havnt been getting many goals this season, so i think it would be a great opportunity for a striker to come in, who is confident in their goalscoring ability i.e. Hooper/Graham, and make themselves an instant hero with the fans by grabbing a few goals. Dont think this can be overlooked as a reason players might like to come here, you have to enjoy playing for the club and the fans backing is a massive part of that. Agree?
These are the last few paras of an article on the BBC about Hooper, his future at Celtic and our bid. It is opinion, but just goes to show the ramifications of bidding for a "name" playernd why we have always been reticent about joining the sk high club. The ideal solution for all parties - well, maybe not Norwich City - would seem to be the one put forward by Lennon after Saturday's victory over Hearts. That is, for Hooper to sign the new deal on offer to him at Celtic and reassess his situation in the summer. That would ensure Celtic still got a hefty fee for him in the close season (as, if he stays for now but doesn't sign a new deal, his value will depreciate with just a year left on his contract), give the player a healthy bump in salary for the next few months and allow Celtic and Hooper a crack at Juventus. What Hooper himself would have to consider, were Celtic to accept an offer now, would be the opportunity to move to a better league, but missing out on more medals this season as well as the chance to play in the closing stages of Europe's elite competition. He won't get that at Norwich - this season or any season - but an impressive showing against Juve might help persuade a bigger club to come calling.

But they hadn't been in the league that long when they signed the likes of Valencia, Palacios, Chimbonda, Nzogbia et al who they all picked up for virtual peanuts to then sell on for big profits. We managed to pick Tettey up from the French League didn't we, and most people on here seem to be creaming their pants about him - though I personally don't think he's anywhere near as good as has been made out, in fact he's been pretty **** the past 5/6 games. Sorry, that argument about Wigan having had longer to develop an overseas scouting network doesn't really wash - and what does "they must have something" mean? Oh hang on, Superman Wears... said we don't/can't scout abroad so I guess you that's all some people need to know as his word round here appears to be gospel whilst anything Carrabuh says is immediately discarded as negative tosh Also, am I the oly one who thinks bidding even as much as £7m for Hooper is barmy? Not sure why some people automatically assume he'll be a "stellar signing" or even a "coup" for us if he signs. He had one season in the Championship where he scored 19 goals (outscored by Nicky Maynard), and the rest of his football has been played at a lower standard in League One or the SPL. His name has never once been spoken in the same breath as the England squad so that kind of money would be one hell of a gamble. Danny Graham would be a far, far better signing in my book, he has proven himself in the Premiership and has all the attributes to be the natural successor to Holty. His first touch to create the goal for Swans on saturday was absolutely sublime and signing him would be somewhat of a coup if you ask me. I still feel he'll end up in the north-east unfortunately, but if he does it doesn't mean we have to go out and pay over the odds for Hooper (overpriced partly because Celtic are still in the Champs League no doubt) as there are other players out there you know.
I agree, but we could have Thierry Henry and Gary Lineker (in their prime) up front, but if our midfield/wide men are unable to get decent service to them, the problem will persist. That's why so many are calling for the inclusion of Fox - or the signing of a DM who can pass the ball as well as win it, because no service = no meaningful goal attempts. Bennett on Saturday and Pilks for several games before him were getting the ball and passing back to Garrido on or behind () the half-way line. Most of Tettey's passes were square or backwards, so Holt might as well not be on the field of play based on passing of that mindset. Worst of all, nothing changed when we went behind, nobody was looking for - or achieving a telling 'killer' pass into dangerous areas to trouble Agger and Carragher.
