This just in: during Friday nights game, Erik Pieters was sent off and in his rage he smashed through a reinforced glass window.
His medical report was just announced on Dutch Television, and it is looking very bad.

Reportingly, Pieters cut off 6 tendons and a nerve. He had surgery on friday night and he will be needing plastic surgery to repair the damage done to his nerves and tendons. He will more than likely be out for the rest of the season as such an injury needs 4 to 8 months to recover.

Video of the Friday night game, action starts at 20 seconds:

That's another player we can definitely rule out then. Just another 99 to go.

<laugh> He probably only sustained a scratch. He did the real damage at the hospital when the doctors said he was fine and the transfer could go through!

Another one to strike off the list,

    Pieters comeback one to forget

So, how was your week? Not great?

Well, it was better than the one Erik Pieters had, you can be sure of that.

The Dutch defender finally returned to action for PSV Eindhoven after being out for eight months with a foot injury, but his comeback didn’t go entirely smoothly.

In their first game since the end of the winter break, PSV lost 3-1 at home to strugglers PEC Zwolle, Pieters and his defensive buddies having what one might term a real nightmare.

And, just to cap it all, Pieters got himself sent off soon after Zwolle went 3-1 up thanks to not the smartest of tackles from behind on Fred Benson.

A bad day, then. But it actually got worse.

So irritated was Pieters by events, he kicked the side of the tunnel as he headed for the dressingroom, and then punched, like you do, a window, smashing it, naturally, in the process.

And with that he had to be taken to hospital, PSV announcing later that he had required surgery after “damage in multiple structures in his forearm was revealed”.

They don’t know yet how long he’ll be out, but they’re probably past caring at this stage.

I know we want players to show a bit of passion, but that's just ridiculous. Saw some photos of his injuries and it was like a horror show, really nasty.
Even though he is a silly boy, l hope he is okay in the long term and l wish him well.

Is the glass available to transfer? Can it play centre back? I think PSV will see straight through our first offer though. I'll get my coat. And my hat and scarf.

The glass panel is reticent to come as it fears we may have a glass ceiling.

Apparently we've smashed our previous record on this one.
