Aussie's thread on this got screwed so here's the one to catch the latest news.

Current speculation says Rennes have told him to pack his bags tomorrow but haven't said where he's off to.

Other rumours suggest he's on his way to us and should be in place by Tuesday.

Don't want to count our chickens, so we'll just have to wait and see. What has become clearer is why 'Arry's set on a DM when we all thought that only defenders and strikers were needed. Good thinking 'Arry boy!

Over to Ellers and co watching the window!

Rennes president president Pierre Dreossi ahead of a 2-0 victory for his side over Bastia on Sunday:

There is a good chance that this is the last game Yann M'Vila will play for Rennes.

Just move M'bia into central defence. It's his natural position, I think. After all he's been getting pelters for his passing ability, so might as well move him back into the Back 4 to add a bit of pace.

after saturdays game & think we need him just to keep the ball, so many times we gave it away so bring him in.

As long as he cuts out his 'dying swan' act, could be a liability...

It seems to me that he lacks some qualities to be a good CB. Yes he's fast but you need a player with good positioning and reading of the game and IMO Mbia is more brawn than brain

I'd be happier with Olsson or someone of that quality...

    Thought Mbia preferred central midfield?

Good positioning and reading of the game, huh? Did you not see the interception he made late on vs WHU? Oh, yes, I suppose you must have as you're constantly digging him out for giving the ball away, which was the disappointing climax of that EXCELLENT piece of positioning and reading of the game.

Other than his stupid swipe leading to his sending off vs Arsenal, he was pretty solid that game. Seems to be me that he's a decent CB playing a role that is secondary to him.

As he stated himself, he prefers to play def mf, but that's not to say he can't play at cb. I think he's the sort of player who will play wherever he's put and try his hardest. He played rb against utd, and played a blinder. But regardless, we still have to bring in at least 1 true cb and it would appear Harry's on the case with either Olson or Rolando. Fingers crossed we can sort one out this week.

I think he'd make a good centre back but I'm not sure he's realised it yet. Definitely thinks of himself as a midfielder from the tweets posted on here. Harry needs to set him straight.

Definitely enough of this, he's not part of a ballet troupe. Someone like Sir Les needs to straighen him out.

It is not. He is a defensive midfielder of trade, one and a half season as centre back doesn't make him that. They paid £10 million for him as a DM from Rennes, it was Didier Deschamps that redeployed him as a CB. It's was a success as they won the league with Mbia playing centre back so he is certainly capable in that role.
Actually think Hughes bought him as CB, think that was originally the position he was supposed to play for us. But his natural position, no.

The best position I've seen M'bia play in has been right full. He was (QPR's) MOTM at Old Trafford that day when he played there. Had control of the whole right side of midfield.

Onouha has had some solid performances recently. But yesterday, all their chances/crosses seemed to come down his side.
