Now i know Steve Guppy has been staying behind and working on his game but is their any chance of someone staying behind and teaching him common sense? The lad seriously has **** for brains. What was he thinking going for goal when Fletcher was telling him to go to the corner flag?

thought he'd improved a fair bit over the last few games always works hard for the team albeit a bit misguided at times ... eventully with his steady improvement will be a good asset to the squad

As a very left footed player myself this always irks me. Hardly ever see a right footed player using there left foot.

The supposed best player in the world is left footed and I don't recall him using his right foot.

    Spot on this mate.

It's a benefit to be two footed, but very rarely will you see someone that is.

As you say, step up Lionel Messi.

McClean, on the whole, has been very good of late, but he seems to be the 'compulsary scapegoat of the moment' with some of our fans who don't seem to see all the good work he does... Perhaps the best thing that could happen for the lad is Elmo coming back to take over that mantle..

Disagree about the scapegoat yesterday and in previous game reg. He's had about 6 or 7 times when he's tried from stupid angles when there's guaranteed goals or better options for the TEAM. As has been said, a good asset but thick as mince

Yes I agree, RVP is so much a leftie, the bairn has a video of footballing cock ups, RVP has some right clangers in that using his right.
I was a leftie too when at school but the point is it's easy to correct when they are youguns.
All you have to do as a father is get the kid to kick the ball off the wall, left then right & gradually increase the distance.
When they can do that you can take them down the local field & start pinging balls in at them & get then to trap them with left then right & control it.

It narks & amazes me why more PE teachers don't do this when the kids are like nine years old or something.
It's such an advantage to be able to trap, control & shoot with both feet.

He done the same against Man Utd, he's either a selfish, greedy player or he just hasn't got a football brain.

Both are major flaws at this level.

For years and years we have complained about a lack of left footers in the team....

And now we complain about someone being too left footed.

I love being a Sunderland fan.

He doesn't seem to have a 'footballing brain' or maybe he does but it gets drowned by rushes of blood.

He does seem to be the target for some stick on a regular basis which I don't see as helpful to him or the team, I have to believe that coaching from MON and the senior players will do more good than fans getting on his back.

I think its a bit of both if im honest 83. I saw an interview with Campbell were he said he was thick as ****. The problem i had with yesterday was, he was out for the glory for himself (or so it seemed) and he needs to be more of a team player and could have relieved lots of pressure of us (albeit he is still young and learning). However, as soon as he had that shot, i just envisioned wolves last year happening again when seb missed the penalty and they countered.

I have to say, the incident in question I was willing him to go for goal, it was 94:45 and I figured if he had a punt he'd either score or win a corner.

For all I'd have raged if they'd broke and scored, I ****ing hate going to the corner flag it really boils my piss.
