http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...r-agrees-new-one-year-deal.html#ixzz2IRdIWUzY Fantastic news. Don't normally believe that filthy rag of a paper but they are pretty spot on when it comes to sport to be fair, and Beasley is a Chelsea fan so putting his neck on the line, if I remember correctly he's got a number of things re: Cole right including his transfer to us.
Great news only downside was I was hoping they would sign Luke Shaw, guy is going to be big, maybe they still can
I see nothing in this except the ego of Mad Dog wanting to stop Fergie from signing your two best players.
Or that we'd be mad to let one of the best left backs in Europe leave for free. Great deal all round.
Great news obviously...mainly because we retain him, & also so he doesn't go to Utd..which he would've if the offer was there - unlike Lamps...who just wouldn't I suspect What surprises me is that he's agreed to only one year...Why can't Lamps do the same...he's two years older..bizarre don't you think..!
He's signing a 5 year deal when he turns 18 and our chairman (who you may have realised is very set in his ways) has stated he wants 50% of the squad to be from our academy. So you'll need a good 30-40 million to get anywhere near him.
Agreed. What was mad was the fact that the Russian seemed to need time to think about it. For the rest of us, it was a complete no-brainer.
I simply could not bear to be away from you for too long, Ozzie. You silver-tongued old bastard, you!
I believe Ash and Lamps have always been offered a 1 year extension. It was they who weren't interested in talking about it. My guess is Ashley and agent did some phone calls and discovered no 'Big' team would talk about more than one year for him or if they did offer a longer contract at a much reduced wage. This way Ash may get another extension a year from now if he stays in form. Now Lamps may have found two years at top wage, in the States or a super rich Wannabe club. I'm certain that if he wanted to stay at Chelsea he could, for another year at least.
