Was Adkins as loved by the players as we think?

I think it's a solid observation. I certainly wouldn't slate my mate's boss and say he should be sacked on a public form, whatever I thought of him, if my mate (an employee) loved his boss - no matter what I thought of the boss.

I was thinking last night about who are the starting players who are most likely to be affected by this, and I came up with:

Rickie, Adam, and Jose (first team ever-presents up until now, and core members of Nigel's team) I expected would be most affected - though none were signed by him, and so have dealt with change here once before
Possibly JWP and Luke Shaw (as Adkins gave them their shot in the first team) - but likely not, as they are young enough to deal with change, and is only recently they probably had total involvement with Nigel

Puncheon probably had more downs than ups with him; Jos lost his place under him; Guly had had a few run-ins; Clyne, J-Rod, and Yoshida hadn't been onboard for too long; Boruc I doubt could give a **** about anyone.

Forren, though - reckon he could be badly affected, and we shouldn't start him on Monday, as his head almost certainly won't be in the right place... <laugh>

I'll let you all into the inner secrets of modern day footballers.

    1) Don't have any loyalty to a club, because they'll sell you when it suits them.
    2) its a job, go anywhere that offers you more money
    3) Don't mix with fans, fans are ****ing idiots
    4) Managers & coaches come and go, its the chairman who pays your wages, not them.

All true. But they are still human beings, who get affected and depressed etc. when other human beings take actions affecting them.

Many of the first team players were very angry and upset about the sacking.

I expect Adkins has spoken in person to the senior players. He would have told them to accept it, move on and do their best.

Whilst that's true, your wording makes out that players are just in it for the money and dehumanises them. Players don't necessarily have a natural affinity with their club, but these people are dedicated professionals who take pride in what they do and put in the effort when they pull the shirt on. It's why I find it insulting when foreign players or managers are criticised for allegedly not giving a ****. What nonsense! If they didn't give a ****, they wouldn't have made it here in the first place.
