Wait till the Villa game is over before celebrating. If they lose, then after today we'll have +1 on them, +1 on Wigan, and -2 on Reading. So we'd have broken even overall...which wouldn't be catastrophic. If they win it will have been a terrible day though.
Not sure I need to! Frank, you're going through a bad run of form on here. You'll be back to your normal sensible self soon hopefully.
ha ha.....in my opinion our goal changed the run of the game. Im not saying that you have to purposely hold off scoring or that it was a tactical fault......but up until we scored, we were by far the more creative and dangerous team......as it stands we arent good enough to hold onto a 1-0 lead for an hour and 15mins and our nervous team looked shaken thereafter and couldnt string two passes together.
Frustrating that we couldn't hang for the win but the criticism on here seems a bit odd. Traveled to WHU a few times over the years and can't remember coming away with anything more than a point ever, let alone three! No doubt someone will Google our last win there, but overall we don't do well at WHU Slightly strange that so many (alleged) long-term QPR fans think that we can just wander into Upton Park, or anywhere for that matter, and get three points, especially in our current predicament. I'm all for the debate but the constant whinging is getting boring (cue 'why you posting' taunts). This thread and other recently started are banging on about possession - yes we're poor but what do you expect? Decent point. Harry doing well, overall. What will be will be.
FFS!!! We went to WHU and got a point. Ever seen us get more than that there? Best League run in a long while, yet the manager's still getting it wrong. Must be s**t if we don't get 3 points every game.
Substitutions were poor...There was a break with about 10 mins to go with 3 on 2, and if tarbs had still been on we could of scored. Very one sided game....Lucky to get a point...
think we were lucky with a point. nelsen was immense again. it's gonna have to be one helluva player to fill his boots. Cesar outstanding as always.
I meant to say that substitutions were wrong and I stand by it. Mackie off Bothroyd on harry is doing great job but today he made a mistake imo
Well said Grift. People saying that a point is good obviously haven't been looking at the league table. On a normal season, its a decent result. Where we are, its just not good enough unfortunately. Harry's doing his best but Hughes' legacy lives on.
-2 on Reading so if Villa lose, its still a pretty good day for us overall and a great w/e if Everton win on Monday which could lead to a saints implosion.
No. It is a good point. A point away vs WHU is a good result, regardless of the bigger context. It's simply ridiculous to think we're gonna win every away game.
Woops you're right! Edited. You could say we've gained a point on all of Newcastle/Fulham/Norwich too, but i think they should probably all be okay anyway.
Not like Mackie's been tearing up trees in recent games now, is it? Anyway, it hardly altered the pattern of the game - WHU were battering us from the 15 minute or so. Just one of those days and we got a point. Can't really see any point in criticizing one substitution!
I'm probably not explaining myself correctly. I didn't think we'd win today, I predicted a draw. It was all the other lunatics that thought we'd just turn up and win. What I'm saying is, you can't disregard the bigger context because that's all that matters come the end of the season; whether we're 17th or below. I repeat, if we were mid table it would have been a decent result. But because we're in such a desperate position and having lost to Newkie, W Brom and L'pool, these draws against Spurs and W Ham are simply not good enough with us cut adrift at the bottom. We've now got Man City up next and a draw is no use in that one either.
So what you're really saying is that we're already down unless we win 4/5 of our games (more or less). Well fair enough. But realistically, if someone had offered us five points from Chelsea, Spurs and WHU, we'd have taken it. Simply reverse the Chelsea and Spurs results and it's a fantastic little string or results, even considering the bigger context.
I agree on that but that meant that our greatest threat on goal Remy had to go on the wing. And there he can't defend as Mackie. As someone nicely put it : we downgraded on both positions CF and RW by that substitution.
The next fixtures for the closest relegation rivals are: Reading V Chelsea Villa V Newcastle Stoke V Wigan Us V City Weirdly i think we'll put in a better performance against the champions. On paper West Ham away is one of the hardest fixtures for us, given their penchant for aerial bombardment, and our shakiness against set pieces. City didn't like our tight pitch last season...and we don't mind sides who try to play through us. A point should be doable. It's 9 days away as well, so maybe we'll have more recruits by then. Ps. Villa just scored
