What do you think will be the team after the Transfer window ends?

    Here's my possible team ...

    Gk: Krul
RB: Debuchy CB: Tomkins CB: Taylor LB: Santon
CM: Cabaye CM: Tiote CM: Anita
RW: HBA ST: Cisse LW: Gouffran

If this is the team come Feb 2nd I won't be too unhappy if I'm honest.

Welcome to the forums Defty, hope you enjoy your time on the board!

As for your line up, I doubt they will get Gouffran. Way too expensive after Debuchy. Haven't seem Tomkins so I'd say that's a pretty bold line-up

Got to admit I don't see us spending much after the amount we paid for Debuhy.. I think i was getting a bit over excited with that line-up but hopefully Pardew keeps knocking on Ashley's Door and demands another striker and Centre half

We desperately need to strengthen the first team, yet part of me just hopes we do nothing in the rest of the transfer window - at least that way we won't lose anyone else.

Is Gouffran any good? Most french footy fans on twitter say he is another Obertan. He has some impressive statistics though.

Like Obertan but with fewer moons orbiting his head, so he can actually see where he's running = better end product.

    Here's my team;

Krul, Debuchy, Williamson, Perch, Santon, Obertan, Anita, Cabaye, Gutierrez, Cisse, Ranger.

A useless 4-4-2 from a half-baked manager who managed to lose his captain and top scorer in the same transfer window, without adequate replacements.

Gouffran? Right. Alongside Radamel Falcao up front, and then let's throw Sergio Ramos in at CB.

With Debuchy, Cabaye & Cisse? Clearly deluded. :)

Granted on paper our fully fit starting 11 would match most
However in this league its about strength and depth not a couple of top Players.
If we don't fix this problem and don't strengthen we are planning to fail meaning
We will certainly go down which I first mentioned in November.

What we can't do is just replace we need to add, we can see who is deluded in may

I agree with you, we have a huge task to stay up now. I was just joking that to prepare for the championship I couldn't see those three sticking around. <ok>

No worries. I still remember that Ashley made his 'philosophy' clear a few years back - find young, cheap talent, build them up, then sell them for more. He didn't disguise this strategy. So we'll struggle to have a squad that competes consistently at the top, as when our players are good nough, we'll listen to offers from clubs that DO have ambition. Unfortunately, that is the truth of where we are. No matter how much we love players like Ba & Colo. <ok>

Agree. This is why it is never going to work. The only thing this policy is going to do, is its going to fill the club's coffers.
    Plan:
Buy young players who develop here
    Sell them for a profit
Smoke the fans that we're not a big club(when we obviously are)
Smoke the fans that every injured player returning is "a new signing" in itself
Minimise signings as much as possible, while making lots of rumours about potential players
At the end of the window, claim that "we tried our best"

19 days gone, Debuchy aside, nothing has been done on our most crucial positions CB and striker. 12 more days to go and we'll hear the usual excuses again
