Adkins still had a lot to spend compared to most sides. I am not saying he has done a bad job. but he certainly had backing financially. Sa as for them having to improve a league one squad, didnt Norwich do that as well without spending £28,500,000. Seems to be a lot of money for a side in admin only 3 years ago.

True but they spent the TV money, at least they didn't dig deeper than they could afford. Not all clubs can run at aprofit and keep improving the squad like the mighty Swans!
They must be off their trollies as Southampton. Starting to get some decent results up to 15th and what do they do. I thought Adkins might have been sacked after our draw with them. He's had the backing of fans, but obviously not the board. I have a soft spot for Adkins, always thought he was a decent manager. Wouldn't surprise me if they went down now, the players must be gutted. We have some saints fans working with me, god knows what they will be saying Monday.
He was very unlucky but to be honest he alienated me when he defended his then team Scunthorpe when they kicked us off the park in that notorious cup game where we finished the game with seven men. Bad memories of that night and I've never quite forgiven him for his post match comments.
Its all down to foreign owners who wont settle for second best regardless of how the manager had done the season before. most of these owners use these clubs as tax breaks and boys toys and dont care about the manager and will sack him at a drop of a hat as they think their club should be up there in the top 6 by now and we fans know it dont happen like that.....A manager needs time to build towards the top but these foreign owners want it in a few months....they are so deluded...
I've always disliked Adkins for that same reason, Ivor but he's done wonders at Southampton and I'm sure you'd agree this is just crazy. Paul Merson (again, not one of my favourites) has just said on Soccer Saturday th he hopes they get relegated, which shocked me a bit. Le Tiss sitting next to him almost had a fit.
Not really. We've actually spent less than the owners planned for, since we made it to the premier League in year 3 of a 5 year plan.
