Just laundered 8 team tops and I'm heading off into town to give them to the British Heart Foundation who have a shop in Eldon Square that sell used clothes. The Team Tops are very popular with people looking for bargains and I just wondered what other people did with their old ones.

It's for a very good cause with all proceeds going to the British Heart Foundation.

I may just do that AB.

I've got far too many now from all over the world and the missus complains about that; given that I never really wear them.

I'll keep the Deportivo ****a one though :)

Great North Air Ambulance is a great cause, however it should be paid for by the SHA/NHS!

British Heart Foundation - they have shed loads of money, and research although vital wastes a lot of money.........

Now brain injury is a neurological condition where there is very little support in the community, and very little money given however there are more people living with brain injury in NE that people living with MS, MND, Parkinson's and Huntingdon's put together. That is why I support Headway - the brain injury association!!

    PS: Getting off pedestal now!

PPS: Does St James Park allow charity collections? :emoticon-0100-smile

We support two charities via donation, British Red Cross and St Oswalds Hospice in Newcastle, St. Oswalds send out letters and give you progress reports which is nice, and my father in law was a patient a few years ago. Clothes go to the Salvation Army, they are always so grateful, they particuarly liked the kids strips as not everyone can afford them and they're not bothered at a young age if they're not the latest.

A very good cause along with many others and all worth contributing to. The lady in the BHF Shop acted as if I'd given her a personal gift when I took them in. I had an unused kids top with the labels still on too and she said they could never get too many of them.

I gave one of my old ones as a paintball target at a school auction for several projects we support in Uganda.

I have kept mine but before I went over to Africa I bought a few spare ones so I could give them to the kids over there, unfortunately I lost my camera and didn't download the picture of them all wearing the kit. I was absolutely gutted about that, but the smile on their faces was definitely worth it.

You'll be able to keep the memory of it longer than you'd have been able to keep the photograph. Congrats on what you did! <ok>

Reminds me of a great story I heard a while back.

A charity collected all these old football shirts and gave them away in African countries to people who had very few possessions. They had shirts from a lot of teams in the Uk and abroad. All the shirts were gratefully accepted into the lives of these people, all except a Sunderland shirt which no one wanted.

I've kept all my tops apart from an old white England top I had with Shearer 9 on the back and a the darkish Blue Toon away top from when Bobby was manager.
Both tops will now be in Africa as I took them to SJP as part of Bobby's shrine.
