Yeah, glad the chairman is picking the team, or we'd be up shat creek with little more than a spoon. <ironicsmiley>
In fairness to the guy I think he will do ok, mostly good things are being said and I'm sure he will be backed (of course). It's not right to be angry with him, anyway. I think he'll keep us up, whether it will mean the same I'm not entirely sure. Think I have calmed down a bit now.
In his interview on Player, he used an intepreter but was listening and trying to follow the questions...he didn't have that blank look of someone who doesn't understand a word. At one point, he voluntarily said something in English. I think he can't follow complicated conversations, but I bet he knows enough for football speak on the training ground. Similarly, Ramirez said that he can follow instructions in English, but needs help with conversations and jokes.
This appointment may bring the best out of Ramirez that we have yet to see. In a way it somewhat reminds me of the Benitez signing for Chelsea to get Torres back on form. That initially turned out to work wonders but has since cooled down alot. My thinking is that Ramirez will bang in a few more goals and tear up defences the way we bought him for... I hope.
He does speak some English. He tried doing an interview with Guillem Balague in English but stopped to tell an anecdote in Spanish. But it's more fun to vilify the club by exaggerating things.
Understand that but I don't think it will be anything like the reception Benitez got and is continuing to get, do you?
I have to admit I am slightly concerned MP is going to have us playing in to much of an attacking way. NA went through the learning process at the beginning of the season and we came up horribly short at times. Unfortunately sometimes you cant play attacking possession football and this is something he will need to learn quickly. I just hope he's been 'researching' us and the premier league thoroughly or we could be in for a return of some of our early season form!
We don't need research, we've been researching since frigging August, this guy might think he's got all the idea's in the world, but once he finds himself at the touch line with things going his way, till a bit of misfortune comes along, then he'll know that all that research won't help him much. What helps is spirit, together as one. Oh no, we've changed that to something else, together for one. Nice ring to it.
Welcome MP, sorry to see Nigel go etc etc etc Have now got my head around the situation and starting to look at what MP can, and probably will bring, to get us to the next level. Here's a concerning thought...... If MP is as good a prospect as I have been reading about then are Saints his stepping stone to bigger things? . An article on SS from Feb 2012 speculated the idea if MP could be the next Real Madrid manager in waiting. Time will tell how committed he will be to Saints. I think it's the same for all ambitious people, particularly the stage of his career he's at. I see MP as a max 5 year manager if he does take us to the next level. One of the big boys (probably from Spain) will come knocking and he will be off in the same manner he arrived. But for the moment, lets hope we stay up, push on, and can continue to sing who's laughing now UTS.
Who's laughing now? I'd have a guess at; Qpr Reading Villa Wigan & I dare say this will have cheered up a few pompey fans even though they are on the brink. What a good day, thanks NC.
I've suddenly realised how much I'm going to envy the next team Nigel manages. They will probably be my '2nd team'.
Ha ha! I've always mocked anyone that says they have a second team but I'll make an exception for these circumstances, I know I'll always be keeping an eye on Adkins' career from this point on, and be wishing him success at any team he goes onto manage. I'm still convinced he is going to make it to the very top.
Heh, same. Must say that I've taken a good look at many of the potential job openings to try to find the best fit...hoping to some extent that he lands with an ambitious Championship side rather than a settled mid-table Premiership group. Whatever my feelings toward a club like Leeds (and they vary), it really would be the perfect landing spot -- assuming their new ownership group is comprised of real people and real money -- and he was able to bring them back to, and keep them in, the PL.
Yes that's not be positive(even if it's just a bit), we are down already. Cortese will leave and we will have Le Tiss as a chairman(maybe this will shut him up for once). The Liebherr's will then sell to pinnacle and we can all be happy right?.
