Singles ofcourse! The Dante is a tricky one, but Seville gets the nod, because he has G1 form in the book, so we know he's a high class horse, the other 2 are just maiden winners! Plus AOB has a cracking record in this race of late, and he sent his best 3yo here last season in Cape Blanco! As impressive as World Domination was in his maiden, there is still big doubts about how strong that form was, Seville is the safer option
It will probably win Shergar but I couldn't bet on a horse having trained on, developed better than his counterparts and being 100% fit. I shall watch with interest. Good luck.
Midday doesn't take too much picking. Loss to Sariska and just failing in the Breeders Cup the only blemish's last season - top class horse and I'd be surprised to see her beaten. 6/5 looks a good price! I posted a while ago that AOB's horses during the Derby trials always seem to fire so Seville would be the one I'd go for too! Recital had the easier assignment in the Derrinstown so he must think this has a top chance! SMS's string has been quiet recently and Workforce looks like he's being held back a week for Sandown instead of the intended meeting with So You Think so maybe there are problems in the yard at the moment? Anyway it would make me avoid Carlton House but saying that watch this now be where SMS turns it all round!! AOB has had a good ten days or so but certainly not one I'd be confident to lump on, it being a reappearance, with a race fit World Domination in the field! I'd be more tempted to double lump on Midday to be honest!
I would take AOB's decision to run the horse in the Dante as a vote of confidence, in regards to wether or not he's trained on! He doesn't send bad horses to the Dante, he's won the last 2 renewals, and aims to make it 3 in a row here! AOB's yard has been flying aswell, were as SMS and HC's runners still don't apear to be at the top of there game
Don't worry Flyingbolt, I've had my bollocks on Midday today, a far bigger bet than the my Seville bet! You talk about Workforce avoiding So You Think, well that's purely down to the fact Workforce would get a good beating over 10f, by any decent 10f horse! Workforce lacks a real turn of foot, so needs 12f! SMS entered him in the Tatts Gold Cup thinking he would pick up an easy G1 Victory, as the race is usually pretty mediocre, but the fact So You Think is going there means it would have been a big task for Workforce! Workforce is a Derby and Arc winner, so they want to keep his reputation in tact
Good luck with your selections, you could do with a few winners after your 1 from 6 you selected 2 days ago. Today is definitely a no bet day and a chance to watch and see which horses step up and which flatter to deceive!
Progambler....Lucky the 1 winner I had from those 6 was the last one, so I had even more on it chasing my losses, so I didn't lose a penny
If you say so Shergar. Pesonnally us Pros never gamble on 6 races in a day, far too risky. I am still sitting pretty after my massive win on Frankel recently, that was the easiest money I have ever had the joy of winning so I hope you were on.
Progambler......Us Pro's bet how we want to bet, and I make consistant profit punting everyday! Massive win on Frankel, I'm sure you did at 1/2
Midday lands the spoils then - Seville edged out and maybe the start of things to pick up for SMS? Only saw the internet feed on the RP site. Does he look the Derby winner? Can Seville improve past him for Epsom?
Nope if Seville was the Derby winner he would have won here! Carlton House looks the obvious Derby winner now! You also have to remember how hard he pulled and the antics at the start, so he probably has even more in hand over Seville than the winning distance suggests
I can't see Seville reversing the form. He might well improve but Carlton House has been held up in training and yet won with ease in the end. Beautifully bred, he is my ideal horse for the derby. Considering the slow pace of the race he could have been done for toe but he did it with little urging from the jockey. I think he could be top class; certainly better than anything else I've seen this year. I hear he's gone to 5/2 for the Derby. Pity really as that's no price for a Derby bet. I'll have to find a better value bet for Epsom but I'm not holding my breath.
Just something that makes me think Carlton House will meet one too good come Epsom? If Seville runs but can't reverse form then AOB also has Recital; Treasure Beach & possibly Roderic O'Connor as his line up so far then! Recital & Treasure Beach won their trials but Roderic O'Connor could go straight there off his 2000 Guineas run which was poor. Pour Moi has been touted from France & Genius Beast didn't go today. Casamento too I see is now a doubt! Not a classic Derby this year IMO!
Just watched the race and he has good change of gears but nothing I'd be jumping through hoops over. He's won the main trial so he's a worthy favourite from what we've seen!
When is the Derby ever a classic one, one things for sure it can't be any worse than last year! I would have a slight concern over Carlton House staying the Derby trip, he realy is bred to be a 10f horse, and the fact they went a slow pace today would have played into his hands, over Seville who looks a 12f horse, and World Domination who may even find 12f to sharp, he's all stamina! CH probably will stay the Derby trip, but it still has to be a concern considering how short a price he is likely to be! The main threat looks to be Recital, and I'm sure AOB will know how he compares to CH,based on a line through Seville
I fancied Carlton House before the race but just wasn't too sure. The race looked too competitive but now with hindsight I think CH has a great chance in the Derby. CH beat Yaseer easily by 9 lengths and Yaseer on previous occuasion ran very well against Knative Khan in the Craven Stakes running on near the finish even though KK won well enough. We all now know how good KK is... Didn't look too impressive visually but stats says this is the one to beat.
I don't follow your reasoning on the breeding Shergar. Pity Princess Newmarket isn't here to help out. I'll ask on 606 because she has appeared on there today.
