I feel sad for Adkins and you Saints supporters. He seemed to be starting to get some results for you, and the quality football you have played for most of this season appeared to be reaping the rewards.

Good luck with the new guy, but, from what I've read on here today, he's going to have to hit the ground running to get a lot of Saints fans on side.

Just read this...incredible. To the outside observer you'd turned a corner
and were beginning to be confident and gamewise in the Premier League!

Sack a manager full of passion, positivity and belief. replace him with someone who needs an interpreter and who won't give a flying **** if we go down. Good work Cortese you complete disgrace.

There has to be more to it than just the results, as they were pretty good

Adkins is a decent honourable man and I was proud to have him as the manager.

The new bloke better be good and get upto speed quickly

It's a joke and not a very good one

On twitter the words "hope Southampton" are trending. Select it to find the full phrase of "hope southamton get relegated" we have become the laughing stock.

I watched the video of the England match where he gives the penalty away is that the correct pronunciation of his name? Pochettino

I'm shocked by this decision it will take some impressive results before I start calling him "There's only one Pochettino"

On the other hand, surely it's much less painful to change the setup at a time when the team looks to be moving towards safety and is playing well. They can keep doing what they're doing and it should ease Pochettino in, in a way that would not happen if we were staring relegation in the face.

From that point of view the timing makes sense. Cortese has waited until we look (touch wood) like we will survive before doing anything drastic.

This is an absolute disgrace to Southampton football club, i'm ashamed to be a fan and be associated with the club right now after everything that Nigel has done for us. Another question might I add is what has happened to Crosby and the rest of the coaching staff?

Bristol City in peace and total amazement.

Appalling decision! Southampton have over the last two months shown that they are adapting to the Prem and to get a draw at Chelsea and be sacked two days later mirrors S O'Driscoll / Forest 4-2 v Leeds / SACK.

Is there no integrity in owners any more? Makes Bristol City owner Steve Lansdown look like a saint for keeping McInnes so long!

No, it's much less painful to change the setup when it's June, and you have a couple months to get things organized. We're three points from the drop, about to play two very difficult games in Everton and Man U, followed by one of our biggest games of the season, halfway through a transfer window...there really aren't many worse times to change.

Probably the worst hiring or firing decision this season. And there have been some contenders.
