Ive been a member for a while but usually just use this site for transfer rumours but feel I have to vent my frustration today! Im absoloutely disgusted at the fact they have sacked the best manger weve had at the club in my life time. I feel sick and ashamed to be a saints fan today and am gutted for adkins. The only bright side is that Adkins will walk straight into another job which he fully deserves to as he has done nothing wrong to lose this one! Am looking forward to monday night even more now so the crowd can let cortese know exactly what we all think of his decision!

 

Totally agree. Really sad to see Nigel go but let's give it time.

 

Firing a manager mid-season is always a massive risk.

Taking a massive risk at a time when you're looking playing well is an extraordinarily stupid idea.

Unless he believes that Pochettino is the Argentinian Guardiola, this is a move that didn't have to be made, that shouldn't have been made and goodness, if it goes wrong, Cortese is never going to earn back the trust of a large portion of the fanbase.

Just to say I'm really gutted for you guys, I thought you were moving in the right direction under Atkins, and your fixtures for the rest of the season were better than most in the relegation battle, so thought you'd be clear by May. Can't say I know much about the new guy, but I hope for your sakes he's as good as the outgoing one. Sorry to hear this. Good luck for the rest of the season (apart from the obvious).

 

Cortese may not give a **** about the unbelievable success that Nigel has achieved with us but us fans certainly do. We were together as one and that is a massive reason as to why we have done so well. I don't believe you can get a man manager as good as our Nige and without trying to be dramatic I think we will go down now. Massively short sighted from Cortese, if we go down is this guy that knows nothing about English football going to get us promoted from the Championship where every game is a battle? I don't think so. I see no reason that with Nigel in charge the ambitions of Cortese couldn't be realised, he is Mr. Southampton. Just really ****ed off with the decision and feel awful for Nigel. Theres only one Nigel Adkins.

 

I feel sick. So angry. I don't even want to support southamoppton anymore. Nigel Adkins embodies everything good about Saints. Attack minded, youth policiy hes an amazing man manager. He was fjust finding his feet, we are playing as a team, with the type of attitude that any club would be proud of.

I feel like the rug has been pulled out from underneath our feet. All the stability has now gone, we are back to being a ****ing joke of a club again.

We are literally a ****ing embarrassment. I want wish I could personally speak to Nigel Adkins and tell him how happy we all are with what he has done for us. No respect, no class.

 

I just find this very sad. There was something in Nigel's voice after the Chelsea match which didn't sound right so I guess he knew what was coming. This may be a good move for Saints but at the moment it feels all wrong. Nigel has been a legend for us and he will be sorely missed. Thanks Nigel for al you have done for us.

The way this has been handled it wont take much for the fans to get on the new blokes back and Corteses if results go against us.

Adkins is a decent honourable man and I was proud to have him as the manager.

Scared about upcoming fixtures now...may be a good manager, but he doesn't know the team or the league. Wrong time.

 

I do not post much on this forum, though I read it daily.
Why change the manager now? The team is unbeaten in 5, outside
The relegation zone and picked up great results against arsenal and
Chelsea. The fans love and respect Nigel and the team play well for hom.
We are a team on the up and the thoughts of relegation where fading.
I have never been one of those fan's that thought NC was the self-involved
Egotistical devil that some paint him to be, but this decision is appalling.
I will be sending a very strongly worded email to the club to let them know
how sick this decision leaves me feeling. The fan's are going to be on this
new guys back from start. I hope this doesn't blow up in are faces come the
end of the season. I am one very unhappy fan
