Peterborough United will hold a pitch inspection at 12.30pm today to see if Saturday's game can go ahead. City Official Facebook.
I'll be glad if it does get called off, gives us a few weeks to get a goalkeeper and a striker or two in before our next league game.
Been searching alot of sites today trying to find whats happening with the outlook of the game going ahead and the only one i cant stand (site)to be associated with its on the bloody thing....
They could have an early morning inspection. I don't think half twelve is fair on the travelling fans. According to the met office, the temperature at Peterborough will be freezing or below between now and the game. There is a constant risk of snow from Lunchtime today right through to the game. Peterborough have no undersoil heating. I'm sorry to be negative - but I can't see this game being on in a month of Sundays.
Agreed, cant see any way this will be happening and it's probably a good thing. Let's hope Lester dont win tonight, a draw would prob be for the best.
Precisely my point. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/...SignificantWeather&zoom=8&lon=-0.24&lat=52.56 See for yourself. The temperature is 0 or below between now (Friday, thanks for the heads up - wondered why I'd gone to work) and tomorrow (Saturday) Peterborough could also have snow from lunchtime Friday through until 9pm Saturday. The way you could have told I knew the game was tomorrow was by me calling for an early morning pitch inspection tomorrow.
I think they'll do an inspection today and if the ground is frozen they'll call it off today, as it's not going to go enough above freezing for it to thaw for tomorrow. If the pitch is playable, they do another inspection tomorrow, after the snow has fallen.
I'd only read one report - that seemed to suggest that the inspection was tomorrow. But if it's today, that's fair enough. If the pitch has already gone this afternoon - that will be that.
Peterboro is about 30 miles WSW of me, here. It's forecasting snow here (moving in from the SW) at around 4 pm. A fair bit expected....
I'm about 20 miles from Peterborough. Its currently ABOVE freezing and no sign of snow. That said, I can't see it being on. It does give us some time to get cover in for injuries/recalls. Which is a good thing. From a purely personal selfish POV I was looking forward to the match tomorrow. With my luck it will get rearranged to a date when I am overseas with work or cant go for some other reason.
You might be in luck, this is from the head of media at Peterborough... Chris Brewer ™✅ ‏@chrisbrewer82 In my opinion the pitch is very playable right now so the game could well go ahead tomorrow - depends on the snowfall I guess.
Peterborough Official site state that they remain confident it'll be played. Saying they've hired lorries full of grit to make the stadium and surrounding areas, safe for supporters. All depends on whether the ref wants to run around in the freezing cold, or not.
To be fair, and I'm not saying this is the case but Peterborough are bound to be making public noises that they're doing all in their power to get the game on, even if they're not or are even doing the opposite.
If you were Peterborough, you'd want to play us now, wouldn't you? Rather than if/when we get Elmo back and when Aluko is fit too.
