The manager comes out of this looking like s right moron. He knows he dived and backs that (by never admitting it, stopping it and backing the player) but didn't like him going public. So he wants players to cheat but never admit to it.

Yeah I'm starting to change my mind - I think you and jenners are right. It would be a bit naive to presume he doesn't know Suarez dives. For all journalistic purposes hough BR would have to say that he was angry about the dive.

At least the BBC's Ben Smith is happy for this news and the excuse to write multiple tweets about his opinion of LFC.

Guardiola to take over Bayern Munich gets 6 words from him (2 of them are his name). Suarez has 36 so far...

haha, the timing is spot on, has he been reading this thread? <laugh>

I don't quite get the sudden realisation that Suarez dived vs Stoke though? What made that particular dive so amusing was the the fact that it was so blatantly obvious. In fairness to Rodgers I don't recall him ever saying it wasn't a dive, he merely deflected it away by talking about the hideous stamp from Huth. So for him to now decide that post his admission Suarez deserves a bollocking for the dive is a bit odd.

I don't think Suarez will be 'punished' as most papers are suggesting. If anything, Rodgers will have a word about Suarez keeping quiet about such things in future.

Jimmy - I'm not sure what else Rodgers could do. Suarez has come out and given the Argentinian press a nice juicy 'admission' ....again .... There needed to be some response from LFC or it just looks like Suarez can do and say what he likes. Rodgers has to outwardly show some faux outrage at his actions but behind closed doors I guess he'll do what you suggest.

Is it more honest not to dive or to admit to it if you do?

Yeah exactly. I think Rodgers was right with his comments.

But one thing is sure, we need a better PR/Communication team. Far too much dirty laundry in public ...

Well the last Communications director added to the pile.

We need John Barnes or someone like him - to talk sense, tell it like it is but also know when to shut up and say nothing.

Nothing but sense comes out of John Barnes's mouth. Really impressed with the way he speaks.

Bring Kenny back, bring Barnes in ..

And there were rumours about Rick Parry returning. I wasn't a massive fan of his at the time but there didn't seem to be any controversy when he was around. Plus he has very good links with FA and UEFA.

Just as long as he's not involved in transfers!

not sure on the Parry returning though, i heard the talks was to do with getting his list of contacts from the last time the club decided to sell lol, who knows, i hope it wasn't for him returning though.

This gets to the nub of it. Rodgers has already had plenty of words with Luis and I guess repeated them on more than a few occasions. Luis has listened and cleaned up his act much to his detractors annoyance, and never dives now or at least not blatantly. From Rogers prospective he had supported Luis publicly, counseled him privately, and was moving on with team affairs etc. and then Luis brings the thing back to the boil again leaving Rogers pi**ed off with him for resurrecting the subject on one hand, and putting Rogers in an invidious position on the other.

Rogers didn't ever publicly jump on Luis about diving because he was seriously fed up with the stick the lad got over everything. Opposition supporters, press, and anyone who could sell a story were having a go and if you want to know what cynical is, its not the diving, its the rest of the (obviously high moraled because they don't dive!), players taking advantage of his reputation and kicking the cr*p out of him while the ref's look on and do sod all (that's changed a bit now as well). Rogers now has to be seen to be doing something, but if its anything more than taking his Rosetta Stone DVD off him I will be very surprised.

Small concern for me that Luis is starting to unload and bored with the constant agro and may consider his options in 12/18 months time. Interesting that Guardiola choose Germany; outside of football tribalism and the press core, our leauge, FA, and bulls**t doesn't quite have the luster it once did and for that I blame the demagogue's of the press, and the silly money, but I am OT now.

Harsh on Rodgers mate. I agree that suarez needs to keep quiet but Rodgers had to say something, and more importantly, he had to be seen to be addressing the issue.

Either way - we're damned if we do, and damned if we dont.

So you are telling me that Rodgers honestly thought Suarez never dived? Its condoned by the managers or the likes of bale, Suarez and drogba wouldn't be famous for it.
