The fact that it is Shearer saying this will only serve to have not-so-fat Mike do the opposite out of spite. Keep yer gob shut Alan

I believe our squad is capable of getting itself out of this mess, but having fresh players in soon would be a massive lift. Shearer does tend to say things as he sees them, which you can appreciate, but that monotone and uncomfortable smile makes for some awkward punditry!

That's just the beeb trying to make him look viewer friendly, they should just leave him alone and concentrate on what he says.

When you were last relegated with Shearer, did he have the same problems as Pardew, or was it because he may not have been that good as a manager?

From the rumours that I heard about Shearer, I can't imagine he would have had too many problems in the dressing room.

He hadn't managed before, but he'd been in the dressing room before. He was known to say it as it was.

Was just wondering whether it was the board, or Shearer not have the management nous that helped put you down.

Great players do not always make great managers, especially of their own clubs.
Look what happened to us when we had Bran Gunn as manager, but there again, if I remember rightly, Brooking did ok at West Ham

Shearer knew a hell of a lot more about football than the board and was much more passionate about Newcastle.

The squad as it is more than enough to survive.

We've just had really poor injuries at the wrong times. But we need more players if we wanna get back up to where we were.

Personally l don't think Shearer had the necessary managerial experience to save the club at the time.
For me it was a gamble, let's bring him in for the last few games, maybe just maybe, because he epitomizes all that NUFC are, it will be enough to rally the squad and we will just squeak past the post.
It was a gamble both for the club and to be honest for Shearer that didn't pay off.
Still a legend for me though.

Shearer should have said , "I'm suprised a multi-millionaire 26 year old wanted to move to London. I mean he's leaving the beautiful town of Marseilles South of France why wouldn' he want to move to Sunny Newcastle. We're massive in Newcastle. Surely we are just as big and well known in the rest of the world.

Also we've recently sold our best striker, we're going to have to sell our best defender and our most exciting and creative player has been talking about his dream move back to Paris.

I think it's unheard of that somebody would select a job because that one is offering more money. Doesnt he know that St James Park is much bigger than Loftus Road?!"

Exactly the same as when our board appointed Gunn. The only difference is that we were in the Championship when we went down <yikes>

Hummm, I had forgotten about that, just goes to show that when your lucks out, it can really be out. However, you guys are back now and hopefully both your good selves and us will survive.

To be honest the damage was done long before Shearer arrived Maestro. We were already gone because the squad didn't have the heart for the fight. I said when he went in I thought he was mad as a *****ose. I think he let his heart rule his head and he couldn't just stand idily by. He had a go but trying to turn that unstoppable juggernaut around was a thankless task. We'd had three or four managers that season alone which tells its own story.
