http://www1.skysports.com/football/...rs?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=facebook Luis Suarez has admitted his critics were right to accuse him of diving to win a penalty against Stoke this season. In an extensive interview with Fox Sports Argentina the Liverpool forward repeated claims that he is treated differently by the media because of his South American background and again accused the press of being at Manchester United's beck and call. But Suarez held up his hands over a dive at Anfield in October which led Stoke manager Tony Pulis to call for the a suspension. He said: "I don't listen all the nonsense some people say about me. I'm accused of cheating here. People say I throw myself all the time inside the box. "They said that when we played against Stoke, for instance, and in that case they were right. I invented a foul because we were drawing and I wanted to win. "Sometimes on the pitch I say to myself, "What have I done?" But the name of Suarez sells papers." The Uruguayan was recently accused of deliberately handling the ball moments before his winning goal at non-league Mansfield in the FA Cup. But he said: "I touched the ball with my hand accidentally, and I was criticised because I kissed my hand. I say to the media: you should talk more about football, not about other stuff." Suarez is yet to be forgiven by some supporters for racially abusing Manchester United's Patrice Evra - an offence which earned him an eight-match ban last season. He said: "When someone comes and says to me something bad about being a South American, I don't cry, because that happens inside the pitch. "I have my conscience clean. But as I have said: Manchester United controls the media, they are powerful and the media will always help them. "It's complicated to play here in England. As Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero have said, it's complicated for a South American footballer to be here as we are treated differently to the local footballers."
He couldn't really deny it though could he, maybe if he just played his footba and didn't try to cheat and con then people would give him more rope, as it is he keeps hanging himself.
more here - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2263444/Luis-Suarez-I-invented-foul-Stoke.html Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has admitted he 'invented' a foul against Stoke City to try to win the match but believes he was unfairly treated following his handball against Mansfield. Suarez came under attack from Stoke defenders and the media for his blatant attempt at winning a penalty during the game at Anfield earlier this season. And he has now come clean, telling Fox Sports Argentina: 'I don't listen all the nonsense some people say about me. I'm accused of cheating here. People say I throw myself all the time inside the box. 'Let's see: they said that when we played against Stoke, for instance, and in that case they were right. I invented a foul because we were drawing against Stoke and I wanted to win. 'Sometimes on the pitch I say to myself, "What have I done?" But the name of Suarez sells papers. 'The other day, for instance, I touched the ball with my hand accidentally, and I was criticised because I kissed my hand. 'The media make up a lot of things about me because they want to sell papers. I say to the media: you should talk more about football, not about other stuff.' In the interview in Argentina, aired today, he claims the reason he is targeted is because Manchester United hold sway over the English media. The Liverpool striker also believes the media is helping Sir Alex Ferguson's side in their quest to regain the Barclays Premier League title. It had seemed the race row and handball controversies involving Suarez had been put to one side following the drama-free North West derby on Sunday. He also slammed the media for treating him and his fellow South Americans differently to British players.
His telant is there for all to see he cud walk into most teams the form he's been in. Why o why does a player of duch talent do such stupid things think at the end of the day u cant teach common sense. It sounds like he has a chip on his shoulder to for good measure
Suarez just love that quote Waddo "I invented a foul" because we we're drawing. OH that's OK then Louis. You CHEATING **** It was actually worse than a dive IMO. Can't wait to hear Lance Armstrong say " I did it because I wanted to win" CHEATS both of them.
Spot on Potts. Then he wonders why the ref's never give him anything! He proved he was a cheat even before he came to Liverpool, when he was caught out in the World Cup Finals!
Didn't he bite another player when he was at Ajax? Strangely enough I have more respect for him by 'owning up', not a lot of respect you understand.
I suppose it's something that he admitted it, does my head in when a player dives, and then their manager/ team mates all say the same thing "He's not that type of player." Well it seem that no one is then, except Suarez. I remember hearing that he bit someone, don't know any details though.
well why else would a player dive ffs? Of course it was to win the game. Unlike Bale's pansy "I dive to protect myself" excuses
Nay RedandWhite, Suarez is a well balanced individual, he has a chip on BOTH shoulders. It really is a pity, because it really does not need to get up to his antics, he is a fabulous footballeer IMO, right up there, probably amongst the top 5 strikers in the world, certainly in the top 3 in the UK. Tin Hat on
Agreed Nicky To admit to it now in some ways makes it worse.. because everyone knew he was wrong even the Liverpool fans. And, he is a brilliant player no doubts about it. Cut it out Louis and you WILL gain more respect from everyone. Re Huth Yep he was wrong to put his foot on Suarez's chest but, he wasn't looking for a penalty. Not sure why he's admitted it now? but let's see what Brendan Rodgers does about it. Probably a big fine what's the point in that. May as well leave it be and just take Suarez on one side and say " Do that again and you won't play for six games"
I forgot just how funny that dive was lol! No other Liverpool players appealed for the penalty and why wasn't he booked for simulation?
Potts, The problem with that is that Rodgers can't really leave his game winning star on the sidelines without a huge hoohaa, the best he could do is sell him. The guy is a monumental talent why lessen it with such petulant behaviour.
Rodgers response to Suarez's admission - http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...nacceptable-says-brendan-rodgers-8456513.html Luis Suarez's dive against Stoke unacceptable, says Brendan Rodgers Liverpool manager pulls no punches after star forward admitted he ‘fell’ to win penalty. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has taken a calculated risk with this season’s single world-class Anfield player, Luis Suarez, by declaring after the Uruguayan admitted diving that his behaviour had been “unacceptable” and “wrong”. Suarez was labelled “an embarrassment” by Stoke City manager Tony Pulis after going to ground in an attempt to win a penalty in the clubs’ goalless draw at Anfield in October, prompting Rodgers at the time to declare that his forward was the victim of prejudice. Suarez told Argentinian media on Wednesday that: “I was accused of falling inside the box in a match and it’s true I did it that time, because we were drawing against Stoke at home and we needed anything to win it.” Suarez’s comments made it clear that he is unhappy about the media reaction to him but Rodgers still dealt out some unexpected public censure today of a player whom he and his predecessor Kenny Dalglish have dared not risk alienating, such is his importance to the team. “I’ve seen the comments and I think it is wrong,” Rodgers said. “Certainly from our perspective it is unacceptable. It is not something we advocate here. “Our ethics are correct. I’ve spoken to Luis and he is totally understanding, and knows where I’m coming from as manager of the club. This is a big club and whatever people do say goes around the world, and what was said was wrong and not acceptable – he takes that and we move on. “There is no one bigger than the club or the club’s image. The comments, from our point of view as a club, are not what we would want to hear. This is something which was obviously wrong and is not something we associate with as a club of this standing.” Pulis resisted any temptation to complain about the penalty Suarez won for Liverpool in the club’s 3-1 defeat at the Britannia Stadium on Boxing Day night but Rodgers said after the contentious home game incident: ”Whatever Luis does, there will always be a problem, whether it’s media or referees.” Suarez was trenchantly defended by Rodgers after the handball goal incident at Mansfield in the FA Cup third round last week. Rodgers said he and Suarez had amicably discussed the striker’s comments. “You normally find players, when their careers are finished, admit to all these kind of things – he just happened to be honest in the middle of his career,” the manager said. “My main concern is the team. As long as it doesn’t affect our chances – we’ve only had one penalty this year anyway – but as long as it doesn’t damage our prospects in the future, that is the most important issue. Anything that is detrimental towards that is something I don’t take too lightly and if that is something I think affects it, that [his talk with Suarez] was a clear message.” Rodgers defended the way he has been managing the Suarez controversies this season. “He is a real topic of conversation, football and media-wise, and as a manager my responsibility and leadership I have to make comment when I have to,” he said.
Hardly scathing Waddo, said his bit for the club's reputation, then defended him, which must hurt as he's made him look a muppet.
