Not saying Krul isnt a good keeper but he isnt playing as well as last season, but that might be because of injuries and a shaky defence in front of him. But 20 million for a keeper is just the world of make believe

He played well vs Norwich, so let's hope he's getting back to his best <ok>

Keepers are probably the hardest to rate relative to one another. Really, if you're a professional goalie, you should be nigh on "world class" every game, no matter what league you're in. There's so few compared with outfielders, only the best should make it through, and only the utterly exceptional should be anywhere near the top. This isn't how it works out though! I'd say £20 million for Krul would be believable because we know how Ashley operates. If strikers are worth millions because of the points they win, you'd think goalies would be worth millions for the points they save. They traditionally aren't as marketable though, unless you do crazy scorpion kicks (I still don't understand why he did that... I mean why? Why not just catch it? What a tosser) or are the greatest keeper there's ever been and look like Ben Affleck.

To be fair didnt have much to do against Norwich.. no one is stating he should go for free jesus, but you have to be realistic, and i know if i was playing if ac milan came in for me that would turn my head they really are one of the best teams in the world and would be hard to turn down if they come in for him. I think a bid of 8 rising to 12 million would and should get him, but i agree with gandalf it is hard to put a fee on a keeper as de gea was a distortion in price and lloris who is a world class keeper was bought for about 7.5million with add ons i know which one of them two i would rather have in nets.

True, but to me the best kind of performance from a goalkeeper can be the ones where they are twiddling their thumbs for 89 minutes and only have to make a couple of saves in the game. You have to have a good mentality to keep switched on and not make a mistake, which is how I see Krul's performance vs Norwich. He really is great at catching, which is such a bonus for a team.

An additional factor is that in signing Krul, you would be acquiring a player with potentially 15 years of top flight career ahead of him. That is very, very rare

Why doesn't Ashley just sell the entire club? The man wanted 80 million not so long ago he must have had the in transfers already since then.

People don't want to buy football clubs in unfashionable areas. Most foreign billionaires probably don't know what a Newcastle is <ok>

I've got some oil in the garage so perhaps if we all get our oil and pour it into a pond we could attract billionaires to the area.

I like your thinking, and your environmentally friendly attitude <ok>

Getting rich and buying the club yourself seems like the obvious solution to our woes... You can be chairman, and I'll be manager!

What will happen is the Board will flex their muscles demand double, give it large leaving it to the transfer deadline
    leaving it to late
then all the ashley lemmings will harp on about what a sound move and at a great price and how its a good deal an how we will invest in some young hopeful
Cold hooch will say its a fab and in Ashley he trusts, sadly only a few peps know the drill
We are a joke and still no cb just a potential replacement of santon

Be loathe to lose Krul or Santon but AC Milan is difficult to knock back if you are at any club nevermind Newcastle. Just paper talk at present in the midst of silly season though. I think we have to accept that if the monsters of football come calling there is little you can do. Its life changing money for the lads with the chance at the biggest clubs in Europe. We have to be realistic about that. As with Demba your hands are tied, clause or no clause.

I think that's about the sum of it, however some people will say your being negative but frankly you have simply worked it all out. They never learn mate and that's what's so bizarre. I bet some fools stil sit watching deadline day intil the last minute hoping we sign some players that will actually count , then the will act like it's the first time weve done nothing.

Nah I just don't get myself on irrational anger trips all year round about it. You just need to grow up and accept the real world <ok>
