There have been mistakes in the defence ... but ... We give the opposition the ball too easily and they have many more attacks than they should. 1. Going forward our midfield/front players get isolated with others not getting up in support quick enough. Lose the ball. 2. Wayward passing. Lose the ball. 3. Hoofing it out of defence straight to the opposition. Lose the ball. ( Fine if you're desperate top clear, but not if you are the goalkeeper or defender with time to play the ball out.) The ball comes back and the defence has to start work again with little respite. We need to keep the ball for longer. Otherwise, if you give the opposition enough chances then they are bound to score at some point. Heads go down again the players lose half a yard of pace and the problem just becomes worse. If we get it right going forward then that will help alleviate the pressure (and number of chances) at the back.
