The current scousers are many things: hopeless, useless, one man team, deluded, and many things we can mention as the result of the match on Sunday. But flat track bullies? http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...ss-when-up-against-the-top-teams-8451604.html
I don't think it has anything to do with not being nasty enough, just look at how many times they hacked us down on Sunday. I think what they lack most is genuine quality in key areas to break teams down. The likes of Henderson, Shelvey, Lucas, Downing and even Sterling lack an end product to there game. Sterling may well improve in the future, but I don't see alot of promise for the rest. Gerrard is still a decent player, but he isn't the world class player he once was. So to summarise Gerrard and Johnson are decent PL players, and Suarez is a world class player. The rest of them just aren't good enough to be challenging for a CL spot. That's why there in mid table, they need to add at least 4 quality players before they can even think of the CL
No, Liverpool are flat track BULLIED... By any team in the top half of the table. Suarez is having a great season, imagine if he wasn't in red hot form! It would be like Aston Villa without Darren Bent... Oh wait!
Suarez isn't world class. His finishing is more often than not below average. How can a striker who struggles to convert chances be considered world class? It's like calling a keeper that can't deal with crosses world class. You'd call him De Gea!
This. Suarez is good enough to beat the weaker teams, but on his own he can't cope with the stronger teams. One good player is no substitute for a team full of them. They'll be flat track bullies until they get some decent players to support Suarez, in terms of actually playing the game rather than just finishing off the scraps when he can't force it through.
Agreed. I am baffled at how the owners got it so wrong. They had a great choice of managers, some of them experienced and proven (Moyes anyone?). Yet they chose to buy into the Swansea project. The irony is that Rodgers was NOT the architect of that project. It was Martinez. All Rodgers did was to continue it. To show that this is not far fetched, just look at how Laudrup is carrying on the work at Swansea by not tinkling too much with the formula. Clearly Rodgers is good at talking and must impressed at interview. His team are clearly good at passing and good when they are on top. QPR played like a shambles against them and were destroyed. If a team is well organised against them, like Stoke, they are stuffed. They simply lack character and fight. My mates and I had a big chuckle when we saw Allen in the tunnel. he was absolutely petrified. We knew he was going to have a stinker. How Rodgers allowed him to stay on the pitch for 45 mins is beyond belief. I just cannot see the scousers making any progress in 2 or 5 years. Rodgers talks up patience and how his project is long term. His statement about 24 points gap is not about quality is proof that he is a bullsh1tter. Any team below the top 3-4 all have problems with consistency and quality of the squad. Otherwise why are they so far behind? IRWT ( Q: Rodgers or Rafa? )
I'm not really sure BRs can be blamed just yet, if any one is to blame for the lack of quality in the squad then it's Dalglish for waisting millions on average players. I don't think I can ever recall a manager having such a bad eye for talent, to spend 35 million on Carroll, 20 million on Downing, along with big money moves for Henderson and Adam among others, the guy has no idea what to look for in a player in the modern game. BRs granted hasn't started well with the money he's been let loose with, 15 million for Allen isn't looking to smart, that's for sure. Though what he has waisted is peanuts in comparison to Dalglish. I actually think the 12 million deal of Sturridge could turn out to be a good capture for BR, though only time will tell. I don't disagree with you on your points regarding Rodgers success at Swansea, and I'm not saying he's a top class manager at all, all I'm saying is that I don't think Liverpools problems can be blamed on Rodgers, as he took over a poor squad, and has hardly spent fortunes so far
"The title race, monopolised by two Manchester sides who are not of vintage quality, is fairly drab but Liverpool's unfolding season has potential to be a more absorbing story than any other." this is the line of the article. We're **** but so is the entire league. City look class on paper but their manager is out of his depth. United have mediocre players other than a couple but a class manager. Spurs try to get good but Levy sells all their best players. Chelsea rebuilding with younger players but can't shake the political power of the ancients. Arsenal sold out. It's a horribly bad league top to bottom. Somehow that makes it intersting and competitive, but I miss the days when the league was quality. Now it's just a place littered with mediocre British players and foregners looking for a 1000% pay rise because Barca and Real Madrid didn't bid for them. A lot of people even think the Bundesliga is better.
I think BR has done a good job at Liverpool so far. Especially considering all the handicaps he's been forced work with. Carroll, Downing, Joe Cole, the dinosaurs Gerrard and Carthorse. People say our midfield is bad!? just look at theirs! Allen, Henderson, Lucas (massively overrated by scousers), skinhead and the no neck troll. Sturridge is a good signing for them considering there will be no CL next year and with some options in attack now a couple good buys in the summer might see them challenge for fourth. Just look at how crap Arsenal are compared to Liverpool, not a lot between them.
Don't understand the fascination with Moyes Yes he's done a good job with a medium sized budget, not got relegated (but came close), generally stank the place out in his rare forays in Europe and finally, after 10 years, has a side almost on a par with a few sides on the fringe of the CL spots. As much because of him as those sides being the worst they've been in over a decade. He's a good manager who plays OK football and deserves respect for that. Still has never won anything or proven himself though.
Mediocre? Seriously, name the mediocre players as that is a massive exaggeration. *sits back and waits for the inevitable reply of "Carrick" *
A little. I agree though with the assessment of the quality of the premier league and also that if City had anywhere near a decent manager they'd be challenging us closer. I would add that the highest quality of footballers at this moment play for four sides; Barca, Real, Bayern and Dortmund with some obvious notable exceptions in the premier league, dotted about in La Liga and, to a slight degree, Paris. Serie A is dead. Below the top sides though, both the Bundesliga and La Liga is on a par with ours, there just aren't that many truly great players out there.
It's the same with the England side as well. I won't say mediocre, average, poor (harsh messageboard words really meaning less than you hoped for) but it's no longer a side where you look at the side fully fit and think you have a chance.
