What about going na,na,na,na,na,na,na, while a drunken idiot rings a bell and another half wit plays a trumpet badly. We could then post on our website that we've the greatest atmosphere in world football, the author of the article may get sectioned, but who cares, we'll convince ourselves.............. I love simple Island folk........................
The fast version of OWTS is about 2 beats a second. If a group of fans sings it in the Northam and another group 50 meters away in the Kingsland sings it in time (i.e. as the sound reaches them 0.15 of a second later) then their sound will reach the originals singers' ears in about 0.3 second, i.e. over halfway to the next beat. The only way to get everyone singing at the same time is to pipe the tune through the speakers and get everyone singing together. Even then, you'll be convinced that people in the Chapel singing (if you can imagine that!) are finishing late (and they'll think the same about you in the Northam). I'm sorry, Captain, ye cannae break the laws of physics. I do wish we could come up with some good songs, though. Why sing a Schneiderlin song to "Brown Girl in the ring" rather than to Spiderman? Big chance missed there. I'd also be happy to hear our away supporters have enough musical ammo to avoid Pompey songs. Vin
Good work onion man. It's why when you're sat in the Chapel there is that sickening gap between the away team scoring and their fans celebrating.
"greatest atmosphere in world football," Just to put it out there, those are also the words of Ronaldinho and Thierry Henry.
Well to be fair, a lot gets lost in translation doesn't it? English is not their first language... so something else they have in common with most Portsmouth fans.
Now you see that is actually funny. Ducky you could learn a lot, instead of being a giant toss bucket with a seriously unhealthy obsession with our club.
Oh Nooooooooooo, the worlds greatest fans are having a pop at me. Stay on your own forum, choir boys...........
Liked one that was posted on SaintsWeb: Tacklin' strikers just for fun They fought Luke Shaw, and Luke Shaw won They fought Luke Shaw, and Luke Shaw won Best effort I have seen yet, and not to the tune of the normal football chants.
Do we still have the most tunefull fans in the English league? Used to be the case according to the Guardian...
I think there should be more Clash-based songs, some examples which could be used being: Should I Stay or Should I Go Rock the Casbah Go Straight to Hell Boy Police on my Back (I know it's Eddy Grant but I love the Clash version) If I ever get round to it I will try making some words fit these tunes.
as with most "surveys" they are carried out once for the person who carries them out to gain attention for themselves. I suspect it was totally unscientific and he just picked a team out of a hat. We certainly aren't tuneful anymore and personally, I'm getting rather bored with the slow version of OWTSGMI.
