Do I sense an Agatha Christie mystery type of story about to unfold?

    "The Missing Agent".

    Read over this thread, people.

I think you're all suffering from IRS (Impending Relegation Syndrome) and have gone completely bonkers. <yikes>

Then it wouldn't be a sandwich as it would have no bread? It would be waffles with bacon. I'm with Gandalf, you're a disgrace and a heretic.

Sorry Kat, but got to agree with Gandalf, what you are describing is bacon "sandwiched" between two waffles, it is not a sandwich.
For something to be a sandwich, it must be between two pieces of bread.
The term "Sandwiched" can also be used to describe non edible items or situations, such as being sandwiched in, but a Sandwich is an edible item, such as cheese or meat, between two pieces of bread.

A sandwich is nothing to do with bread ? bread can be used to make a sandwich I agree.

You cant just pigeon hole sandwiches

Thats why you can have sandwich cakes, double down sandwiches and JAM sandwiches( polis)

I accept peoples opinion but I'm not having this like. <confused>

You'll have to, sandwiches have bread. This is not an opinion, its a FACTOMUNDO. If you don't accept this, then I declare you a sandwich short of a picnic.

Perhaps we should start a new thread and have The Great Not606 Sandwich Debate, Gandalf could set up a poll so people could vote on it, but back to your points,

1 A sandwich is everything to do with bread, as the original sandwich came about when The Earl of Sandwich put something between two slices of bread and called it after himself, a Sandwich.
2 A sponge sandwich is two layers of sponge, with jam or cream for example "sandwiched" in between, but it is not a sandwich.
3 you can have multiple layers in a sandwich l agree, but they must be between layers of bread
4 of course you can have a jam sandwich, as l said previously, edible items between slices of bread, jam being edible, so whats your point.
the sandwich was named after the person who invented it and consists of any edible item between layers of BREAD, not cake, not waffles, bread.
