So do you think Remy will be able to score enough goals to keep yous up? Gutted he didn't come to us but when he gets offered more than double the wages we would've paid him what can you do?
Maybe it's the type of contract that's attracting these players? If they're not particularly enamored by the other offers, but still want to play in England- then 6 months with various release clauses might look quite attractive. They're not over committing to anything, and can simply leave at the end of the season if they don't like it. I'm sure going to Newcastle or someone else would involve agreeing to multiple years, in an unfamiliar country/club. This way, these guys can almost have a "trial period" in English football, without having to permanently decide where they want to be. Maybe they've been aiming for English clubs in the top 6, and would prefer to attempt to impress over the next 6 months with us, then see what other offers come along?
That's the concern. We're in no financial position to outbid Newcastle but we're obviously gambling big time. Would be very happy with remy because its what we need. Wouldn't be that bothered if we lost mvila. Have enough midfielders.
5 mins ago- "Stephane Mbia ‏@StephaneMbia Two months ago I said that Loic Remy has come #QPR !! " He did an all'. It was something cryptic like "Remy to QPR? I can not tell "
here it is, from the 30th of november: Stephane Mbia ‏@StephaneMbia Dream or Reality ? Loic Rémy! I keep the secret! But not for long Time ^^ #QPR #OM
I think he's been working hard on convincing him. The win against the scum and the draw against spurs may have finally made up his mind. Hope its true.
He might not be in the squad. I think Faurlin will play, especially as he wasn't in the reserve game yesterday.
Good detective work - HR was saying nice things about Ale the other day so he might be in line for a run out. Faurlin would be invaluable for the run in if he can find some form again.
David Williams ‏@djw65 @StephaneMbia you are psychic, or you told him to come Stephane Mbia ‏@StephaneMbia @djw65 Maybe both Cheers Stephane! I guess that's one thing Newcastle didn't have going for them. We've got an ex Marseille player who's loving life at QPR currently
Are you guys joking about you being in no financial position to be outbidding us? We only were offering £40k a week whereas you offered him over £70k at least; some sources are claiming £110k a week!
that was a few seasons ago wasn't it? Mbia joined in august, so he's probably still closer to the OM players than Ben Arfa would be. Not to mention that he's a complete fruitcake! I'm guessing he's a popular figure in dressing rooms
Regardless of what we will pay him, Newcastle are a bit challenged in attracting existing 'big' names or retaining top talent among the guys their brilliant scouting system unearths. They don't pay top dollar wages (probably a good thing), they are geographically isolated (no offence meant, I lived in Durham for 3 years and loved it. But a shallow footballer from Europe may feel London, or even Manchester, offer certain other attractions), and they haven't won anything for 50 years or more, are not challenging to do so, and are prone to the occasional relegation. Obviously a big club in English terms because of the support, but may not look so from the European or South American perspective. Not meaning to say QPR are anything other than Mickey Mouse by comparison, which is why we have to chance our arm with contract offers and make a big noise. In these circumstances Harold is the perfect manager for us.
