Was watching the local sports channel and HR has made an offer for Tom Rogic. http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/a-league/news/1136478/QPR-offers-700-000-for-Rogic?
Is he any good? I won't claim to know much about the quality of the Australian league. But the fact that Emile Heskey is apparently scoring loads of goals there does suggest it might not be that good.
The A League is pretty pants but developing. Tom was rated highly after finishing in the top 8 in the Nike Chance a couple of years ago and is getting good reviews He's probably right for bringing in and loaning out like Curtis good at Newcastle.
QPR enter the race for Rogic Monday, 14 January 2013 9:26 AM It is understood that relegation threatened Queens Park Rangers have entered the race to sign Central Coast Mariners star Tom Rogic, reportedly making a large offer for the Socceroos midfielder. QPR manager Harry Redknapp made the bid for the talented Aussie on Sunday night, but will have to contend with bids from Fulham, Glasgow Celtic (where Rogic is training) and Club Brugge in Belgium. A Central Coast Mariners spokesperson confirmed the club had been contacted by QPR about Rogic on Sunday night. However, if past decisions are anything to go by it would appear that Rogic is unlikely to join QPR, given he knocked back Reading, who are above Rangers on the EPL ladder but still threatened with relegation. Celtic manager Neil Lennon wants to take Rogic back to Glasgow to see more of him and possibly play him in a trial against Steaua Bucharest, telling Scotland’s Daily Record: “We would like to play Tom against Steaua Bucharest but we will have to be careful about it for insurance reasons and stuff like that. “We would like to play Rogic but if that’s not the case it’s not a big problem. We like the look of him, like the cut of him. “Reading were interested but we stole a march on them so we will see how he does. We’re hoping to get him back to Glasgow for another week. “I think he’s worth the money from what I’ve seen but I’d like to have a proper look before we decide
Just checked in with my son who knows of him. Apparently he is a GUN - two footed and a strong no.10. My son's mate was one of the 3 Aussies that went to the UK for the Nike Chance and was not surprised at how well he did. He's young and one for the future, if he can make the transition from A League.
Sky Sports transfer page has him as a midfielder!... http://www1.skysports.com/transfer-centre/clockwatch "Central Coast Mariners midfielder Tom Rogic is a man in demand and has been on trial at Celtic after previously being the subject of a bid from Reading. However, the Daily Record reports that Queens Park Rangers are ready to hijack any deal for Rogic after Fulham were also linked with an offer" Quite a few places online refer to him as an attacking midfielder...not an out an out striker then?
Looks like he's chosen Celtic, can't blame him, Champions League footy.. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...-while-Kilmarnock-offload-Michael-Nelson.html
