This is no time to sack a manager. Look at Wolves and where it got them. A win or two changes everything. I have no great opinion of Pardew as a person but sacking him now would really be asking for it.

Yes, because changing managers when the going got tough really helped us in the relegation season...

Exactly! Reading fans will be looking at this fixture and expecting something, perhaps even a win, from it.

It's like the poker adage; if after half an hour you can't tell who the fish is at the table, then it's you. Newcastle have become that fish for others to feed on.

No-one is looking at a Newcastle fixture aby more saying "This is going to be tough" now they're all saying "This could be the three points we need to lift us out of the bottom three".

Sacking a manager in the middle of January, when we are in desperate need of new players is hardly going to encourage any decent signings, any player concerned about their career long term will think twice about joining a club that may have managerial problems, instability could be the final nail in our coffin!

Stupid thread, again. A clean sheet and a point isn't a bad result.

Sacking the manager mid January will all but confirm our relegation. I agree with LTF. No players will want to sign, and I imagine certain players would want to leave too.

I wanted to know people's opinion. Nothing stupid about it.

My point is that a new manager can bring about a change in form and a new found confidence in a team. But I accept it would be hard to bring players in having sacked the manager. Indeed it will be hard enough anyway given our position in the league will it not?

I wonder what you will all say at the end of the season if we go down? Will you be glad we stuck with Pardew then? Or will you regret us not taking a chance and trying to change it to turn our form around?

I hope we give him plenty of time. The point and clean sheet was important yesterday. We've enough good performances with good football of late and come away with nowt but red faces.

Man U and Arsenal were pretty good performances for 70mins in terms of football played, particularly considering the opposition. But then we decided some crazy defending and capitulation was needed to make it really entertaining. Man City was decent at home too but the front two were just too good. Performance is secondary at present we need to get our house in order and fight. We did that so I'm fairly pleased, just not entertained
