Great goal and great team performance...However, apart from the goal I felt he was still one of the weak links on the pitch..
To be fair, everyone came to the party today and it shows what a canny side we can be when they play as a team. Seb is a good footballer and some of the criticism has been harsh. He is a far better right midfield player but Johnson is better again so he has adapted and its taken tme for him to learn a new role. That shot was a contender for goal of the month and you simply wont see a sweeter struck shot this season AND don't forget it was with his weaker foot?
Agreed he had a good game but, from recent performances he couldn't do any worse really. He is being played out of position and is a bit lightweight for CM and just doesn't have the work rate for that position. When we were crap a few weeks ago I said get AJ on the left and put Seb back on the right wing his best position by a mile. Thing is the whole team turned up yesterday from the kick off and not after we had gone behind by 2 ****ty goals, couldn't fault any of the lads in the game to be honest a very good team effort with arguably not our strongest team.
I agree with the sentiment above, he had a good game and is neat and tidy as a right midfielder. However I'm still of the opinion that he is one of the worst centre mids in the division and does not warrant his place in our team ahead of catts, Gardner and Vaughan (haven't seen enough of the new lad to comment on him)
I didn't know he had a left foot TBH. That was a screamer though! He has been pretty crap this season, so a return to something like form would be welcome.
I like the fact Seb seems to like playing for us, and last season he was superb. He needs to step it up still though, as mentioned above, he was better, but still, despite a peach of a goal, one of the lesser players. It's a start though, and I do like Seb, and hope he keeps going, that's or 4 better games bouncing now.
The whole team are playing better though and its reflected in a lot of our under performing stars such as Sess, Larsson, AJ and even McClean. We have weathered the early storms and hopefully can enjoy a bit of calmer water for a few months now.
