Lots of demin, lots of flares (no, not that kind), lots of hair, lots of jumping around and look out for the copper getting his helmet knocked off.

I was there! My mate wouldn't let me invade the pitch though. My God, Eastville was a ****hole.

Remember it well. We must have had 10,000 there that day!

Cages became a common sight at footy grounds in coming years. Some good footage of Bobby Gould handing ball to a youthful Tony Pulis for the throw - interesting footage from a big cup game !

I was there, we lost 2-0 in FA Cup, a guy called Paul Randell scored both for them.
Went to the league game there as well that season, drew 0-0. Got promoted that season...Bolton won league, we played spurs last game of season where a draw would see both teams get promoted, funnily enough it ended up a 0-0 draw, lots of rumours it was a fix. Brighton lost out in 4th place.

That video really does make you appreciate modern day football pitches.

A temporary fence was erected at the Archers road end for that last game of the season against Spurs. They ripped it down at the end of the match and came on the pitch anyway. The Archers was fenced off permanantly for a number of years after that but the rest of The Dell never was.
The Archers could be quite an intimidating place for away supporters, besides the London teams and Man U most teams in those days wouldn't have great numbers and the more sociable Saints fans would mingle freely with them!!

Spotted that too, and the lack of grass. This is one of the reasons why modern players can become better technically - they have the surface to make it worthwhile learning the finest skills. And as SamKimish also mentions... Barca would be ****** on a surface like that.

Some good footage of your namesake mate as previously described in this clip of a great game between two very good sides. Was at this game in the Archers(home fans) with my g/f of the time - she wasn't really interested in the footy but I remember she loved the colour clash of the strips !!

I missed several key seasons of going to matches [career, jobs, girlfriends, wife, etc..]. I remember that the Milton end was the place to be at The Dell, with its chocolate boxes, etc., before all the changes took place. And then I came back and all of a sudden, the Archers end was where the action was. When did that precisely take place..? When did the Milton Mob relocate..? I want to know finally, and for all..! :)
