    Just a thought I had.
If say, Simmo went and Colo we would need at least 5 players to come in.
Would 5 be too many for the team to have time to gel or am I over analysing things?
Like I say just a thought I had but it could be possible to go over the top and ultimately have a negative effect on the rest of the season.
    What's your view?

Look at qpr the last 2 windows. Signing too many players in one window can be a headache. If colo stays till the summer I don't think we will sign another player this window. Just my opinion though.

One quality first team striker in
One quality first team centre back in
And Colo has to stay until the summer, anything more or less and l think we run the risk of destabilising even further.
If other signings are made and personally l don't see any of it happening, they should be fringe players of superior quality to the ones we already have, prior to shipping some of the deadwood out.

I think it depends on whether the players have been scouted extensively.

Part of scouting is getting an idea of how well they'd integrate into your current squad, who they'd work well with etc.

It wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, Chelsea won the league with Mourinho doing that in a summer window.

QPR took a scatter gun approach, bought in volume then when the window closed they opened the door and turned on the lights to have a look at what they bought. Unfortunately for Fernandez who appears to be a nice bloke, he'd been getting bummed all over the place by agents and Hughes. 'Arry is making it worse by the looks of it with near enough every transfer story ending in the words "and QPR". Their blueprint is destined for failure, 100% going down.

Signing too many players would be breaking the bank, breaking the wage structure, and there's the chance we could be getting in the wrong sort of players for it... Yet I think not signing enough could be much worse in the short-term (and possibly long-term).

We should theoretically still have money to spend, added to whatever we get for anyone who leaves, and there should actually be a sizable gap in wages to sign a few players. As long as we don't panic buy, have scouted our targets well and don't go overboard on prices, we're ok. The problem is our situation is rapidly unraveling into a completely uncontrollable one, and if we're not careful that could lead to ridiculous gambles (and we know our board and management like a gamble) that lumber us with useless lumps.

This really is a nightmare for the board and Mike Ashley right now, they'll be ****ed if they bring in somebody who doesn't hit the ground running, and they'll be double ****ed if they fail to bring someone in at all... They essentially have to make miracles happen in a very short space of time now. I've been patient with them, they clearly tried in the summer and just couldn't put things in place to sort out a few positions we needed... Not exactly uncommon, look at Liverpool with more money not being able to bring in a striker, for an example. Mike et al have played the waiting game and things have gone against them in spectacular fashion, so really signing Debuchy at all is quite an incredible achievement, one which they now have to replicate about 3 more times in 20 days <yikes>

Ashley and co only have themselves to blame for the mess we are in.
Yes, Mourinio achieved it by buying in players, but we are not Chelsea and don't have Abramovich to bank roll the kind of players that Mourinio attracted.
Throwing silly money around is not the answer, the answer was to spend what was needed last summer. We are not talking excessive amounts considering what we achieved and the fantastic platform we had created from which to grow. They did not water the crop and now we will reap what they failed to sow.
All that potential and promise down the pan, it makes me so sad, and the worst of it all, is that it was so few re-enforcements we needed to make the difference.

Yes but then again we've been playing like a bunch of strangers at the back all season so what's new!

Fair point Pouchy, it's just that so many of us were really looking forward to this season, it offered so much potential, and let's face it, we have been waiting a very long time for something to get excited about. It beggars belief we have come to this, in what feels like the blink of an eye.
It's hard at the moment to stay positive, when most things NUFC are so gloomy.
Maybe l'll go look in the groups section at the Debuchy Appreciation Society, that should cheer me up.

If they were quality players and wanted to play for newcastle then No. I would rather have better players than play our squad players, you seen how they preformed against lower division team

The problem with QPR , they signed for wages, they dont give a damn about playing for the shirt

Not if they are good enough not not at all, however large numbers of crap players is a big no no.

I'm not sure we'll have much to worry about on this score anyway <laugh> Mikes wheeling and dealing will probably see the squad trimmed and the usual line about us signing 3 players but ignoring 4 outgoings will be trawled. Pards will be left crying into his pint wondering how he got shafted again. Seriously I think we'll lose one more at worst (Colo if there is any substance to the story) and sign a maximum of two more.
